Default The hidden Gems of the TW modding community.

Does anyone else feel that a few really quite excellent mods are neglected on the whole by the community.

Personally I feel the Fall of the Republic,Rise of an empire mods really do not deserve the attention they are due by putting you in a scenario no other mod (to my knowledge) has.

But do you of the TWC community feel that there are many other brilliant mods which are overshadowed by the big guys,Europa Barborum,Roma Surrectum,Third Age Total War,the Great war and the many Darthmods.

Yes I agree. There are so many "small, unknown" mods which are more than worth trying.
Of course, there is a reason why the big mods ARE big... they are damn good, that is.
But that does not necessarily mean the small mods are bad.
If one takes some time and browses through the mod boards, gems will be discovered.
I remember when If irst tried the BEIC Sepoy Rebellion mod and the Khartoum & Zulu Mod. Really good stuff, good quality, and you can see how the modders put their love into it.

Those are some damned fine mods too I think the one thing these hidden gems have for them is that they are unique. Like almost every R:TW mod starts at the punic wars so it's really nice to have a few ones which give a totally different scenario. Though EB seems to seek to steal 77Bcs quiet thunder with Novos Ordos Mundi. But ahh well

I've thoroughly enjoyed FLAGELLVUM DEI, one of Rome's Invasio Barbarorum mods thus far.

I wouldn't necessarily call it a "hidden gem," but it certainly doesn't have the following that EB or RSII does.
I am so clever that sometimes I don't understand a single word of what I am saying.

I agree that they are the most known ones.

But ot also depends on the mod itself how will it present itself or sell it to the public, so people can see and when people see the features they will try the mod.

I saw this one mod, it focused on the Mongolian invasion of the Baltic. Great units, great mapping, great overall campaign.

The mod only had 22 threads in its whole sub-forum. Sad.

Out of that list a lot of those are hosted modifications, the above are the ones I recognised...not really hidden gems ...especially Call of Warhammer.

Besides those mods featured with their own forum here, how about these (in no particular order):

    Snoopy Total War
    Gundug's Otherworld
    Reconquista
    Portvcale
    XIIth Century Total War
    Hidden Flame Total War
    1143
Les Champs Mortels: The Fields of Death
    Reality Mod
    The Thin Red Line
    Schwert und Speer
    Ultimate Retrofit

Just to name a few of those not hosted with their own modforum here.

    Yeah, that rocks as well!

    Santa Invasion

And as well worth a look are:

    Ajouts de Villes historiques
    and
The Dark Eye which actually should be called Arcanum in order to make it recognisable for fans not familiar with the german rpg under his german name.

Besides there are a lot more gems out there just links I've recently looked up for the Vault.

I also know of Rise of the Witch King: The Sundering , which actually derives from Warhammer and is an amazing mod, although being still in its beta version. For me, it has the potential to be the best. It certainly doesn't draw the attention it deserves. It's not totally unknown, but it's not very popular either.
