HCS download and Official Submods

So to have a more balanced and less rushed campaign we should:

-decrease starting armies
-decrease starting treasury
-fortifies most important cities at the start
-remove siege equipment (how?)
-garrison scripts for major cities (that's quite simple)

the first two points were tried by hoffman here, but imho he went a little too far...

I think that depends on the faction , but I would definitely weaken all Greeks and decrease the sizes of their units .

But not some impossibly strong garrisons .

My aim at least would be to make Greek gameplay more risky , that you just can't pump out insane numbers of hoplites so that you have to think really hard before steamrolling everything ,but on the other hand I would like to make Persia quite menacing in the numbers and money department yet with unreliable units and city order .

EDIT: I already gave Athens and Syracuse large_stone_walls , but maybe it stone_walls fit better in this time period for them ?

i would love to try this mod but i can't seem to install it i have tried it muteble times i used to be okey at installing mods but i haven't done it in a long time i know some basic stuff of modding but not mutch so i downloaded the first link the short cut it makes just gives you credits so i made my ohwn whith this commend:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\rome total war helenistic\RomeTW-BI.exe" -mod:hcs -show_err -nm and it didn't work i start the game i get the hcs loading screen and i get the mesage that the game stopped working i also tried it whith the line: -mod:bi/hcs -show_err -nm whithc i got from another post link: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...onia-Downloads plz tell me what i am doing wrong if you need anny other info just let me know. and sorry for my bad english.

Install the game outside Program Files. Here is my shortcut for XP:
"D:\Rome - Total War\RomeTW-BI.exe" -mod:bi/hcs -show_err -nm

Sorry guys, but i have installed the mod and the environments, all the stuff, but i can't find the application to make it run

You have to change the path of the shortcut. change it to:

"D:\(Name of the folder where you have installed RTW)\RomeTW-BI.exe" -mod:bi/hcs -show_err -nm

Bear in mind that it's advisable to keep a clean "vanilla" copy of RTW on your PC. To do this install RTW on the default setting for example, then copy the entire folder to another location of your choosing and use that one for your mods. My path has "" because it's a XP install, on Vista you don't need them.

Exactly why you need to change the existing path for what i posted. Check the properties of the shortcut on the desktop.

I have corrected the path but it opens Barbarian Invasion, i think it is because it has no starting .exe file in the directory

i have windows 7 and the real directory is Program files (x86), i have tried to copy Rome to another one existing, just called "Program Files" and installing the mod there, now the path should be correct but it opens the same credits.txt file as before

Ok, HCS should be inside the BI folder, where you will find DATA,CUSTOM,PREFERENCES,REPLAYS,SAVES.

All you need is to edit "destinazione" according to what i have posted. it should work. The ending of the destiny should be:
RomeTW-BI.exe -mod:bi/hcs -show_err -nm.
As your instalation is outside the BI folder it should work if you try ending with:
RomeTW-BI.exe" -mod:hcs -show_err -nm

For your instalation something like:
C:\Program Files\Rome - Total War & Barbarian Invasion\RomeTW-BI.exe -mod:bi/hcs -show_err -nm
Check spacing, that can be enough to screw the path.

And yes, i believe that your mod instalation is better if you create your own folder like "games", "Rome", something like that.

Sertorio, thanks so much for your patience, i thought that now the game was launching but now an error occured, the application crashes, oh my!
i can't belive it is becoming so difficult to enjoy this that should sure be a great mod!

Hang in there, reinstall if needed, you will make it work. Start off with HCS, check if it works, then if all good proceed with the environments, try to narrow down the problems you are facing.

Ok, now without environments and modifications it works, the order to put the environments is the same as you posted them?

Now open the folder RS2environ....until you reach a DATA folder, copy, open HCS folder (you should see a DATA folder now inside HCS), and paste. Overwrite/replace everything you are asked for.
Some files will be replaced and some folders added.
All is done, but you can also replace the climates map by the one Toon Total War did, which is also uploaded. To do this open HCS/data/world/base and replace the climate map inside. If everything is working go have fun. If you later want to enhance the battles check the "unit balance modification thread".

Hi, concerning this, HCS download,RS2 Environments.
Where are the instructions, On- "RS2 Environments"? We in RS, just either have SVN update for the team, or patches.
Please give details. Thanks.
