Human republics are nerfed because in Diadochi alliances, they were a bit overpowered. Very easily, I could switch out poor generals and risk them in the open field. If they died, I'd simply get another.

Eldar are nerfed because their units are extremely powerful.

Hordes are nerfed because of the ability for them to potentially go berserk and invade neighboring lands.

Humans, no. Eldar and other non-humans, I'd be willing to consider. It would be interesting to see, say a well-done Khajiit race with prides lead by females... and I'd be open to Eldar compensating for physical weakness with magic and such.

They're only random for heirs, and it was the same in Diadochi.

If I'm reading these rules right then you have to pay for characters, republics just get them cheaper. All the factions seem to get some special abilities and they should balance each other out. And really some stuff seems to have no reason for imbalance, such as the imbalance between human republics and other republics.

Why not? What's to stop a human from compensating for physical weakness with magic as well? And if this is really freestyle then the social mores of a nation would be decided by the individual player wouldn't they? I mean just forcing the fantasy stereotype that human females have the exact same role as they did in medieval europe whereas the females of the other races can do whatever or even be predominant sortof ruins the freestyle aspect which is the main draw of a non historical game.

They're only random for heirs, and it was the same in Diadochi.
Which raises another question, what about Republics? They don't have heirs.

Since other non-humans are put in with Eldar do they too get their own unit types and constructions like the Elves do?

    Edit
Oh but the biggest thing is that the mountains be divided into a good number of regions(inside the mountains, that are connected to the other regions in the same mountain chain but only connected to the outside in one or two gates per mountain chain), not impassable blocks as they were in diodachi, so my dwarves can have halls to live in.

Also I think that provinces should have automatic garrisons that are assumed to be there depending on province richness. Realistically cities would have like the town watch and such, and if the enemy force wasn't big enough they might hold out for reinforcements.

I support that idea, however I would like the option to "upgrade" the town watch. Should also serve as civic force.

Anyway, time to find the ol' Navaronians/Illanorians again (Nordic-Rus-Saxon-Norman mixture)

I've got a lovely idea for a Venice-Genoa Republic kind of thing, that controls that channel between the two main western continents. Just need to work out a flag, mostly

And thanks for the map Cf. For the further purposes of perspective, where is, or rather was Turia on the map?
