Especially the 'tribal mechanics' and 'more profitable to handover the region to the rebel allies than keep it' sound awesome! I never even thought of / hoped for features like that...

That is the best looking pike phalanx I've ever seen... and that's just Machimoi! Those Liby-Phoenicians too. Boy I love the crisp, bright, beautiful detail here in EB2. It contrasts so much with some of the more drab, darker looking units in EB1.

I wouldn't call EB drab. In truth most of the colour difference is with the additional shields and armour etc. It's not that they're that much brighter imo but that there is much more differences within a unit.

Yes, they are too bright, but this will be changed.

Medieval 2 overall is brighter than Rome, so that helps.

Heya, nice sneak peak! I love the textures. The models are good too, but can be improved a little. For example I notice some clipping and weird vertex weighting on the cavalry unit. Anyway love your work and I hope to see more of it soon!

Those Horse Archer hordes are kind of convincing me to give the Sauromatae a shot for the first time like ever (never liked playing with nomad tribes)... it just looks so... epic.

My fear has been confirmed, phalanxes won't have secondary weapons. Now the phalanx has their men pointing their pikes the other direction just like Stainless Steel and other mods that delete secondaries. Now the phalanx will be a meat grinder on all sides.

Well this is my opinion, I'm still working on how to make pikemen better using the threads I posted before as a base.
When EB2 is released I'lll see what I can do.

BTW the units look really good keep up the good work!

The mighty Sarmatians and Scythians in their full glory! Only odd thing is the weirdly perfectly clipped bangs. My first campaign in EB2 will probably be the Sauromatae or the Saka Rauka.

Don't think it's possible with the M2 engine to make pikemen switch at the right time unfortunately. If you give them secondary weapons they switch almost immedietly, and then get butchered

I would be interested in helping when EB II comes out, the ideas that you posted seem interesting and may work but we'll have to see what the animations mesh with it (they'll be unique animations so they may affect it in unexpected ways).

The only thing bad about no secondaries is that they will mow down anything on a wall, resist cavalry charges to the back and just turn around with their pikes (My experiences)
In order for the tweaks to work you must have secondaries enabled and even then the pike wall won't last that long, if it even lasts 1 minute you're lucky.
Since the EB2 team uses their own animations, it might be way different, and that's what I hope.

    Thanks for responding smoesville

So about the tribal system, it is stated that it will be for the Aedui, Sweboz, and Lugia.
Will it also be for the Arverni, or do they have a more centralized system since they have a king rather than an
    elected ruler?

Anyways, sounds great. Keep up the good work!
