Waterloo inteed! This is the only sequence in the entire movie that makes me feel good ^^ forgive me, my fellow frenchmen, but your kind is giving me hell on the plains of europe! I have but one thing to say as a true prussian; "Arschgeige"! xD From the mouth of the man himself; "Raise high the black flags, my children. No prisoners. No pity. I will shoot any man I see with pity in him. "

Yep, my answer would have been Waterloo aswell But I REALLY recommend the miniseries called 'Napoleon'. 4 episodes starting from his time as General in Italy, through Austerlitz, then Russia etc and finally ends on St. Helena. There are clips of it on Youtube

Sorry - but it has to be Sergei Bondarchuk's "War & Peace" for the epic scale of the battle scenes. They make "Waterloo" look like a small scale punch up!

I have to say Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World. I really can't stand Waterloo, and it's gotten to the point that I can't watch it due to the explosions.

In my opinion, the 1965 adaption of War and Peace, clocking in at 431 minutes in length (just over 7 hours), takes the top-spot.

I often wonder how they do all the stunts with the horses. I mean, the Bondrachuk movies are pre-special effects, and they have tons and tons of horses running at a full gallop only to take severe nosedives in the ground and send their riders flying. I guess there were no animal rights activists complaining back then?

Just as in Japan to this day,the stunt laws in Russia are quite lax in comparison to what we see in the west, including stunts performed by animals

    The Best ones:
    Waterloo
    The 2004 miniseries Napoleon
The Russian version of War and Peace (the American version is weak sauce in comparison)

I don't do know anything else...
I didn't much like Master and Commander, I wanted to see Nelson fighting huge naval battle at Trafalgar or the Nile.

If you like Waterloo you should check out War and Peace Russian version its the same Director as Waterloo. Its a 4 DVD Set with 5 Hours length. On Disc 2 there is the hole battle of Borodino in the same style as Waterloo and its about 1 hour long.

    There is also
    Sharpe
    Hornblower
    Austerlitz
Napoleon 1955 (it was all right but not great, pretty much sums up his life but it could have been so much better)
Napoleon and Josephine (pretty good, it is basically what the title says)
Monsieur N (it was good but no battles... just Boney on St.Helena)
Eagle in a cage (Hated it...just Boney on St.Helena, well um, boning a girl and her mom... not accurate at all and I didn't get it)
Bruc (the only thing worse than Eagle in a cage, I didn't much understand it it I wanted to die)

A crap tonne of Spanish Movies about the Peninsular War (from the 20th Century) which mostly centre around a single battle,
filled with folk heroes and Spanish propaganda

The uncut version of waterloo is a treat, much better than the original, shame so much was cut from it

war and peace was good too....just hated the russian voice overs on the non-russian characters.....ruins it for me
