How to play TGW on a Mac

The following describes how to play The Greek Wars on a Mac, but would probably work if you have a PC and the game keeps crashing.

This will not work if you try to do it with BI, I think because because TGW does not involve religions or hordes.

First of all, the application won’t work for you. So here’s how to make this mod work for RTW Gold.

1. Go to Applications, and then click your Rome Total War folder with your applications in it.
2. Open the “Data” folder, and you should see a whole bunch of other folders. Find the one named “alexander”.
3. Click “alexander", press “enter” and rename it, “original alexander”.
4. Find the TGW folder you downloaded off this website, make sure it’s the newest one. Right click and copy it.
5. Paste TGW in your “Data” folder (the same data folder that now has “original alexander” in it). Wait until the paste is finished.
6. Right click on this pasted TGW folder, and select, “Duplicate". Wait until the duplication is finished.
7. Label one of your tgw folders “alexander”. Label the other one “tgw”.
8. Go inside your "original alexander” folder, click “data" and copy the item called “chat_filter.san”.
9. Go inside your “alexander” folder, click “data” and paste the item called “chat_filter.san”.

You’re done! To play TGW, use the “Alexander Expansion” application. The Greek Wars will be under Provincial Campaign.

If you want to get back to playing Alexander, follow these steps:
1. Select your “alexander” file, and press enter.
2. Rename the file “label alexander to play tgw”
3. Select your “original alexander” file and press enter.
4. Rename this file “alexander”.

You can now again play the Alexander Campaign on the Alexander Expansion application.

This work on the app version of rtw mac or only the CD version?

As long as it’s possible to mess with the folders, it should work with both. TGW has all the data to work with a RTW application on its own.

In the Rome Total War folder, is there purple application that says “Alexander Expansion”?

If there is, and the campaign is playable, there should be a file filled with data so that the game knows what the Alexander campaign is supposed to be.
