    Default Faction - Zora Dominion

    Zora Dominion

    Main Color: Blue
    Religion: Goddess Acknowledgement
    Culture: Civilized
    Rival Factions: Gorons
    Cordial Factions: Lanayru Province

    Strengths, Weaknesses, and Abilities:
    - Disciplined Mentality: The Zora have a high sense of duty and loyalty to their superiors, and as such do not retreat as often as other empires would in a terrible fight.
    - Body Obsession: The Zora obsess over their physical grace and appearance. As such most Zora are relatively frail in combat and their armor is designed to shape and mold their bodies rather then protect them.
    - Aquatic: The Zora are able to travel over any body of water.
    - Vulnerable to Ice: The Zora are unable to survive in sub zero temperatures, and tire very quickly in snow.

The Zora are an elder race who's origin traces back to the times of ancient Hylians. They are an aquatic species that resemble humanoid fish but while they display many characteristics of aquatic life they also have vestigial mammalian traits (such as female chests) that imply they might have had mammalian ancestors. Some scholars believe the Zora might have originally been an artificial cross of the feral River Zola and Hylians of ancient times. Regardless, the Zora are a fairly dominant force in Hyrule. They admire physical beauty above all else, and believe themselves physically superior to all life. An average Zora spends most of their life forcing their body to grow into certain forms through the use of constraints and manipulation. As a result most Zora are unnaturally thin and graceful, and they have little tolerance for any Zora who does not abide by this custom. The Zora's need for appearing perfect reflects in their military force as well. Their soldiers usually are outfitted to look more imposing rather then fight and perform effectively, and most of their armor, weapons, and outfits are designed for form over function. For this reason the Zora generally are not very durable, but their high discipline and morale usually helps them last longer in a fight when most soldiers would make a run for it. They also have a natural advantage in the water, an advantageous trait none of the other races can claim to have.

    Special/Other Units:

    Morphite Priestess

    Zora Infantry

The primary instrument of the Zora's military forces, legions of Infantry storm any battlefield that the Dominion partakes on. Armed with a golden spear and an almost unbreakable wall of bravery, Zora Infantry face any foe with dignity, honor, and deadly force.

    Zora Healers

While the Zora at large are a prideful race, they are known for their empathy over the pain of others. These Zora women have dedicated their lives to healing the pain and destruction that the world brings about. In battle their magic helps troops fight on longer then they normally would.
    .
    Zora Mages

The principles of 'magic' are mostly unknown to many, however the Zora Mages have found a way to tap into this mysterious art. Zora Mages are powerful substitutes to archers: They fling powerful energy volleys across the field.

    Infiltrators

Their bodies molded and shaped at a young age to slip into any space and their skills honed after lifelong training, Zora Infiltrators are deadly battlefield assassins. They can sneak up behind a general or enemy hero and silence them with swift action.

    Bigocto Riders

In their patience the Zora eventually domesticated the wild Octoroks. Secluded in a controlled environment, they eventually were able to grow the creatures to huge sizes not normally possible in the wild. Now at an adult age, these Bigoctos serve as cavalry for the Zora Dominion.

    Sapphire Wardens

Elder Zora Mages eventually tap into other forces of nature to manipulate other then the electrical flow in their bodies. In this case the sacred Blue Fire is harnessed by the Sapphire Wardens and flung across the battlefield at foes.

    Shock Troopers

When the enemy has dug in and fortified deep, the Dominion calls in the royal Shock Troopers. Powerful soldiers that have long been in service of the Dominion, these regal warriors march into battle in perfect formation and hack apart any that resist their empire.

    Bigocto Battle Platform

Taking massive Bigoctos that have reached an exceptional age and outfitting their shells with a stable platform, these huge cavalry units can wade through masses of enemy soldiers and trample them to death. In addition, Untainted Zora Mages fling Blue Fire off the platform at enemies afar.

    Mage Spire

When the Zora Dominion comes under the attack of invaders, a group of Mages can establish a Mage Spire to hold ground from the aggressors. With the combined power of three Mages, a Spire can build up a powerful electrical shock over a period of time from which it can be unleashed in a titanic blast against an approaching army.

    Mage Cannons

By focusing their electric currents into a giant Sapphire crystal, several Zora Mages can unleash a mighty discharge powerful enough to blast through stone walls. While pushing the crystal leaves the Mages vulnerable, deploying the chassis and charging it takes place in relatively short order and makes them ideal siege weapons.

    Sapphire Captain

Sapphire Captains lead squadrons of Zora into battle and assure the fight remains as orderly as possible.

    Sapphire General

These Generals are experienced in dealing with other races during times of war. A lone Sapphire General is able to guide an entire army while maintaining order and ranks.

    Zora Ambassador

While they believe themselves above the other races of Hyrule the Zora are nonetheless willing to associate and learn what they can from other cultures. These ambassadors serve as mediators between the Dominion and other empires when establishing treaties and other political arrangements.

    King Farkos

The head figure of the Zora Dominion, King Farkos prefers to be simply referred to as the Zora King. A selfish individual, the Zora King has proven his power by inflating to a obese state and violating the Zora preference of shaping the body to a perfect form. He has a deep hatred for the Gorons and hopes to take revenge on them one day. He rides into battle on a Bigocto.

    Princess Ruto

The daughter of King Farkos, Princess Ruto was born with pupils, thus implying that her father conceived with a Zora of Lanayru Province. Her blood no longer that of pure Zora, she is often looked down upon by her people. At the eve of adulthood she was killed in an accident and mysteriously awoke to discover that she had become a Sage. Rather then fight Ruto prefers to heal soldiers in battle.

    Zaleen

Zaleen has long served as a diplomatic ambassador of the Zora Dominion. He's often the first to discuss a treaty with any of the other races, and the first to look them in the eyes should a war follow. He has a deep secret love for Princess Ruto, and has done his best to assure that she is safe. In battle he and a group of Infiltrators sneak about to assassinate enemy soldiers.

    Telara

The wife of Zaleen and head librarian of the Zora Dominion, Telara was once a promising young Mage before abandoning the position in favor of her current occupation. With war on the horizon though, Telara has considered returning to the role of Mage to aid her husband in battle.

I am curious as to how these mage spires will operate. Care to give a battle scenario with them in play? Do they work artillery fashion, or shorter-range (comparable range to archers for other factions) devastation?

Hoping for that an a larger scale. More AoE, less direct damage. (Tesla coils only shot 1 guy at a time. Not going to work against thousands of guys mutants heretics enemies.)

I would believe it would work like a Monster Bombard, given it's description of "Powerful but slow to reload"

The thing is Tesla Coils (since this seems to be the example we are using) were also powerful but slow to reload. Either way works for me. No complaints here. Just want to know how this thing is used.

    @Mjolnr

Unless that 1 guy was in an Apacolypse Tank or a King Oni. Then you need Natasha and a Conscript.

    "This is nice coat."

I always have been, and always will be a Tanya guy.

Anyway, Zora's. Am I the only one who thinks they need a Sword and Board infantry either between standard infantry and shock troops, or above shock troops?

Actually, I would discourage that. I think the Zora infantry lines are fine the way they are. Zora are meant to have strong morale and formations, not have a ton of or powerful meat shields. Their units can stay in a fight long past normal breaking point when given to an effective commander. Their units are not supposed to be durable, and this "hold the line" doesn't leave all that many standing. Even so, the mage and sapphire warden devastation they allow, perhaps with some infiltrator flanking, makes them well worth it.

I think it's best to experience using a Mage Spire rather then being told a visual description of what happens when enemies get too close. I recommend testing a custom battle with several of them versus a full stack of Kokiri Minutemen or Gohma Larva.

I think I'm not mistaken in guessing that the sound effect is only a temporary one right? (I know sound will be the last thing you take care of)
Because I'd imagine something more "thundery" for that.
