Empire was, I dare say, my favourite game in the series, and Medieval II (which I can only assume you are referring to, rather than the original, due to its proximity to Empire) is easily my least favourite.

Back to the matter at hand, though, a developer should never reskin an old game and market it as something new.

That is what one might refer to as the "Activision Strategy," and I'll be damned if TW becomes the Call of Duty of the Strategy genre.

They can't get away with a simple remake of Rome, they really need to add some flavour to the beef and please the fans or they will lose alot of their fanbase. This title is pretty much the the most important CA title ever.

Well you can play some good mods until then and if the new game does not please you keep on with the mods. What we all are doing really.

Medival 2 is my favourite of the series, but i would be very disappointed if Rome 2 was just a re-skin. Although thankfully it won't be

why would u want the same old Rome with new Graphics? If that's the case then Just play one of the mods, They reskined the game pretty nicely with some great gameplay. One thing I love about TW games is that what ever they add to a game they keep it and add more to the next. night battles with BI, varied units in M2 (in all honesty not sure what els they added besides the Armour upgrades), Naval war of ETW, Supply lines of NTW. And now we get Beach assaults, I can't wait to see how it turns out.

I don't. I've played 'my old RTW' to death, with and without mods. I want a completely new game - one that pushes TW into new territory and by God, it looks like CA are going to provide it! Something tells me that after playing this, it's going to be hard going back to any other TW game.

What I really want to do is go into campaign quickly and embark some soldiers in my navy, get them in a battle vs. another navy, and see what happens to the soldiers

Well, i happen to love both Empire and Medieval 2. Both games are great in each of their ways.

i will be extremely disappointed, if they only did a reskin, but according to al the previews we are bound for a lot of sweet stuff(naval assaults, map hopefully reaching India, more factions) the only thing im a little uncertain of, is the new province system. I really hope they maintain the amount of cities, but add more stuff to the rest of the province.

ah fun times when i remember how everyone hated Rome after it came out until right up to the time Medieval 2 total war came out then everyone loved Rome and hated Medieval 2 , after Empires came out everyone hated Medieval and Empire and it goes on and on.

Rome total war looks way too rosy then it actually is in today's age.

There porb looking to do what they did in Empire and make one big city in charge of allot of area and have little towns crop up around the city. Like Paris, London, and Spain in ETW.

I rember a very old strategy game where you could see the suply lines and send an army to cut them, in hearts of iron there are naval suply lines, I think this could be a better solution.

i would hope they would at least make rome 2 somewhat interesting as RTW was just extremely boring
