Icon6 Is Constantinople rightfully Greek? (A Thread War)

As you probably all konow, Constantinople and all coastal regions of modern Turkey were Greek inhabited for thousands of years until about 80 years ago.
Then Hellenism lost its home litteraly because of west European and Young Turk treachery ....
Hellenes were killed and deported by force, a lot of Asian Greeks still live in what is now Greece....

This is a free poll, please no nazism & violent coments
Constructive thema devia debate is more like it...

I completely believe that Istanbul is still an imperial territory and should be given back to Greece, its rightful owners. Like how nearly every empire or kingdom that was has given back its terretories/granted dominion status or independence.

I mean, it's across the sea from Turkey. Yes there are parts of the city on either side but it's obviously Greek. Few things bug me more in the world than Istanbul's continued status as a Turkish city, and the fact Corsica is still owned by France and not Italy.

Were Istanbul still owned by Greece, the added trade revenue could likely have prevented or at least alleviated some of the hardships endured by their economic situation.

The turks took Constantinople by a fight , no? And of course they weren't helped because they were Orthodox and they always fought with a lot of mercenaries(Byzantines).

I never ever call this great city Istanbul

    plus, it's an ugly name

I'm not Greek, mind you. It's a pity Russian forces stopped several kilometres short of Constantinople in 1878...

Cvetko really likes to create " stormy " threads , I have a hunch this one will be closed .

Anyway Turks conquered it , hold it for 500 years , I can't see any possible reason why should anyone else have that city .

And I like the name Istanbul , it has the rich Oriental fell in it .

I believe that the people should decide who they are governed by, whether it is Greece or Turkey. I would say the same goes for other places such as the Falklands etc.

When were the Falklands ever property of Argentinians and inhabited by Argentinians?
I, for one, would love to see Argentina b**'d all over again

Constantinople is not Greek, Greece is Constantinoplian!

It just have a nice twang to it. While Istanbul sounds evul moslem* to my completely biased European ears.

*Note: my family owns a house in Alanya, and I generally love Turkey. (Greece too actually, spent three very nice holidays in Athens and the islands)

The question is: what is it now? Majority of muslims, majority of Turks...
Things you cannot change these days, sadly.

I also want St Winoksbergen or Boonen back, but some things are impossible.
