These units have melee combat locked so they wont use their ranged weapons at all (caravine cavalry, light dragoons, etc)
Is this a problem with realism or something normal in the vanilla game?
Thanks.

Dragoons and Carbine cavalry have to be dismounted to be able to use their ranged weapons. It was practically impossible to reload musket, or even carbine in saddle, plus accuracy wise, there wouldn't be that much difference vs flintlock pistols.. Dragoons and Carabiniers have completly different use - try using them as fast moving skirmishers - hidden in bushes waiting for their shot, but once faced against bad odds, you can mount them and withdraw them to safety. Or, ofcourse, you can use them as poor man's heavy cavalry, where they will be quite dangerous against infantry, just dont expect them to hold off real Heavy Cavalry unit... (sorry for late response, but i was on vacation)
