So for sieges, there is little point in the bigger artillery such as 24 pounder cannons, if 4 pounder cannons destroy walls in one hit right? I don't get it.....

I pointed that out in a previous post in this thread, siege battle are maybe unbalanced because we added in the former releases a "no forts mod" because siege battles are bugged and some changes to the artillery we made later may resulted in cannons destroying walls to fast.

Hey just a suggestion regarding the unit icons. I really like the ones you've done for Britain and France (in ROTR) - are there plans for this style to be used for other nations? Not that the vanilla ones are bad - I actually think they are quire nice too (and like how you've made the new units consistent by making the new icons in the sames style as the vanilla ones)

Impressive units, as always. It looks like Prussia will have a great cavalry roster, especially in the late period.

Amazing looking units. Btw, is there some progress also on early and/or middle period units or they are on hold untill the Rise of the Republic is finnished?

We first want to finish the late rooster so for now we do not work on early and mid era units.

Just to add; The late era units are the most expansive, so the early and middle would not be as long to produce (in theory)
Plus, we have more 2d and 3d artists, but we could always use more!

    Thanks for your support!

Thanks for reaplies. It indeed make sense to finish one era roster before moving to another although I really looking forward to see some more early and mid 18th century units. Keep up the great work

I do love the work you guys do. I'm happy to see there are still a few that remain to pioneer Empire Total War modding. I look forward to seeing the existent bugs eradicated, as well as the new skins you guys having been working your tails off to complete. Going forward, I would love to see changes and tweaks to your battlefield effect and sound. Being an 18th century reenactor, I know what these things are like, and I feel the visuals and sounds on the battlefield are integral to the game experience, and make a strong impact on the players. Of every mod I've played, I think Imperial Destroyer hits the nail on the head in terms of visual effect and sound. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IalfDjFtE68 Best stuff I've seen. In terms of uniforms I truly believe you guys dominate. Whoever your artists are, they definitely know what theyre doing. I think this could be potentially be the greatest empire mod of all time if all elements of the mod are optimized to their fullest potential. best of luck.

In regards to sound and visual are you referring to 2.2.1b or Rise of the Republic? Rise of the Republic has improve sound and graphics.
You can download the changes from RotR to use for 2.2.1b here.

    Thanks for your feedback!

    Hi,
As you voted for us on the modding awards I know have someting for you; the preview of the final part of the Prussian army (3 units) Now I will start to work on things we need to do before the next release, mostly the historical starting point (characters mostly), techtrees and building chains.

But now enjoy the 3 units:

    The Prussian late Hussars:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    General with his Staff:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

And a special unit just for Prussia:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
It's Gebhard von Blücher with a staff officer and his escort, Hussars of the 8th regiment. He will be one of the starting generals for prussia and you can't recruit this unit a second time! So don't let Blücher die

And thanks to the CA-employee who made Blücher's head for NTW! Otherwise I would and could not had made this unit.

Impressive! I'm looking forward to the final release: do you know approximatively when it will be?

Just for fun You guys should make an elite French unit (with crazy good melee stats) in the revolutionary army with Arno Victor Dorian as the officer model.

At first; welcome to the TWC
A final release is not on the horizon (reworking just a single fraction takes a lot of time) but we are planing to release a new version with Prussia, Hannover, Saxony and the USA in the near future.

Default Re: Public Suggestions Page (unofficial) - What's with the Invalids?

I've just installed IS. Firstly, thank to the modders for all your hard work. I started to play with the British, a jolly fine imperialist nation, what what!

However I was very puzzled on two grounds by the Militia being defined as "Invalids".

The first ground is the "gamer" one - we want to play units of hard cases - the die-hards and "devils in skirts" of this period. Not a bunch of basket cases. Which is what an invalid is. Cripples were carried around in baskets.

The second objection is a historical one. I looked up militia, firstly in The Making of the British Army by Allan Mallinson (just the book I was reading at the time) it mentions Militia several times but no mention of invalids. So I dug out my Britons to Arms! by Glenn A Stebbings (Budding Books, 1992) which is a history of the British Militia, Volunteers and Yeomanry. Although it doesn't specifically say it, there is an assumption that the militia are able bodied local men, aged from 18-45. Before the New Militia Act of 1757 local worthies raised units of militia rather haphazardly, after that it was a duty for the lord lieutenant (governor) of each county. Stebbings estimates that there were tens of thousands of men in the militia, selected by balloting.

I do not believe that "Invalids" is the correct term. As the militia in time of war would have had to suffer the rigours of 18th century warfare, e.g. marching everywhere and living under canvas, it is just ridiculous to suggest that invalids could carry out these duties. Whatever it says on Wikipedia.

Please can you remove this from the next version of the game. I'd be quite happy with the term Militia or 1st Regt of Militia etc. After 1757:
"The 1757 Militia Act was enacted to re-establish county militia regiments in England and Wales. The militia conscripted men from local parishes by means of ballot. Lists of male inhabitants were drawn up by parish constables and men were chosen by lot. Between 1758 and 1762 men aged from 18 to 50 were listed for service in the militia. The upper age limit of 50 was then dropped to 45 between 1762 and 1831. The initial 1757 list excluded certain classes of society such as peers, clergy and apprentices. The 1757 list and all later subsequent examples to follow are known as militia ballot lists. Those conscripted were known as principals, "drawn men" or "lot men" and could decide to delegate their service to substitutes. In peacetime members lived at home but in times of conflict most of the militia was called up to permanent duty. These services were not normally within the county where they were conscripted but remained in England or Wales, as the militia were permitted* from postings overseas.
    .....
The First and Second Supplementary Militia Regiments were raised in1797 and later became the 2nd and 3rd Royal Lancashire MilitiaRegiments. In 1813 the latter was re-titled the 3rd Royal LancashireMilitia (The Prince Regent’s Own)"

    Source: http://www.lancashire.gov.uk/media/5...volunteers.pdf

    * I think they mean 'not permitted' or derogated from service abroad.

The militia, yeomanry and volunteer regiments do have colourful titles so players can rename their regiments in amusing ways...btw Stebbings says that they often added "Royal" or "Kings Own" type nomenclature without proper legal title to do so.

But no more of the invalids, eh?
