The War In The North Team, proudly presents,
The chance to reform the Great Realms of Angmar and Rhovanion, can you rule the north?
Angmar
The realm of Angmar arose in the North beyond the Ettenmoors 1700 years ago. Its lands lay on both sides of the Mountains of Angmar, and there were gathered many evil men, and Orcs, and other fell creatures.
The lord of that land was known as the Witch-king, but it was not known until later that he was indeed the chief of the Ringwraiths, who came north with the purpose of destroying the Dúnedain in Arnor, seeing hope in their disunion, while Gondor was strong. For almost 700 years the threat lay heavily upon Arnor and as it split into three kingdoms and was weakened, from his throne in Carn Dûm the Witch-king plotted and organized its doom.
In 1974 Third Age the power of Angmar arose again, and the Witch-king came down upon the last Dúnedain kingdom before winter was ended and while a host of Gondor with the aid of the Elves of Lindon and Imladris so utterly defeated Angmar that not a man nor an orc of that realm remained west of the Mountains its intention was fulfilled.
The Dúnedain of the North appeared vanquished, the line of Isildur seemed broken and all of Arnor destroyed. From the gloom far off in Middle-earh Sauron was pleased.
Now the world is changing, Isildur's Bane is found. New in the very hour of Sauron's great designs the heir of Isildur and the Sword are revealed; and he goes to war, a great captain of Men and all men of Eriador has rallied behind Aragorn under the banner of Arnor awakened.
As the Witch-king command the forces of Mordor the Dark Lord has appointed other wicked servants to fulfill His scheme, one of his top lieutenants Agandaur has been sent north. To Sauron the tool of Angmar once more seems to be required, a mighty fist by which Arnor again shall be ripped apart and trampled into final oblivion.
Rhovanion
Between the Iron Hills and Dagorlad, between the Sea of Rhûn and great Mirkwood the land once known as Rhovanion lie.
It has been the home of the Northmen since before recorded history in this part of the world. They were tamers of beasts and had learned the mastery of horses, and would often ride far afield as scouts and keep watch on movements of their enemies; and if the Orks dared to assemble in the open for some great raid, they would gather great force of horse archers to surround them and destroy them; allied to the Dwarves and united under mighty princes who from time to time joined forces.
In later days they often became the friends and allies of Gondor, praised for their horses, valour and the fearless spirit of the Northmen. With and in the service of the Dúnedain they defended against men of the East and even fought the might of Angmar. Mighty in lore are princes as king Vidugavia, grandfather of Gondors king Eldacar, Marhari who protected Gondor's rear in the battle of the Plains and Marhwini who with his éored took part in defeating the Wainriders at Dagorlad.
But the Great Plauge and the constant wars against the easterlings that by time came to bitter ends wained Rhovanions strength and at end the Northmen were enslaved or driven to Dale, Vales of Anduin or had migrated to Gondor. Éothéod, later known as the rohirrim, stem directly from Rhovanion and just as their kings descend from the kings of Rhovanion, so do all Northmen hold the memories alive.
And now the might of the Northmen again march out across the plains of their forefathers inspired by leaders who have not forgotten they are proud princes; raising Great Halls anew, archers mount and again the world will tremble under the armed weight of the Northmen of Rhovanion.
