    Default Recruitment of generals

    Hi,

    I guess this has already been discussed here several times; are there any problems to be expected when using the following script to recruit generals in campaign ?

    example
    Code:
    monitor_event FactionTurnStart FactionType sicily
                and I_UnitExists sicily Gondor General
                destroy_units sicily Gondor General
    
        spawn_army 
        faction sicily
        character random_name, named character, age 25, x 240, y 296, direction E
        traits LoyaltyStarter 1 , GoodCommander 1 , ReligionStarter 1 , Loyal 2 , GoodAdministrator 1
            unit    Gondor Bodyguard        exp 2 armour 0 weapon_lvl 0
        end
    
    end_monitor


    ...where "Gondor General" is a placeholder/trigger unit that is buildable in a specific region (Minas Tirith for example), is expensive and available every 25 turns (or more or less)... (the high y co-ordinate is there due to my extended map, it's in front of Minas Tirith that the general spawns in this example)

    This simple system can easily bring more useful generals to the game with different bodyguard units etc.

    How about making the traits random? And maybe make the general recruitment locked in the capital city at a cost of 5000?

    How would I make the traits random ? The cost is "just" a question of testing and balancing.

    You could just make generals recruitable by changing the EDB. You won't be able to have random bodyguards, but you can make several of them and recruit the one you want.

    How are you going to make the bodyguards random?

    I am not, it would just be possible to spawn generals with different bodyguards from different settlements (ie rangers from an Ithilien settlement, Swan Knights from Dol Amroth, etc)

    I will try to follow this tutorial and make it through EDB, I might have known there is an easier way

    EB has recruitable local generals at the highest level of Ancillary Barracks. I suspect we will have a like system in EB2.
