RS v2.5 - Cannot start game with steam

Ok so I just installed a fresh version of Rome Total War Gold Edition.

Yes I am using the steam version and I installed it via steam. Next I downloaded the installer for

RSII 2.5

After I downloaded the .exe file for the installer, I installed it to:

steam > Steamapps > Common > Rome Total War Gold

In the Rome Total War Gold folder I have a new folder called (Roma Surrectum 2.5). I went into the folder and made a shortcut of the .exe file for the launcher and placed it on my desktop. When i clicked, the launcher came up and started to play some seriously BADASS music.

I selected the Gallaeci faction (I want to burn Rome to the ground) and then I selected YES for the steam option. When I hit play I got 3 error messages and was told to report them:

1/3 "You don't have Roma Surrectum II installed in the correct folder"

2/3 "Engine: RomeTW-BI.exe, Faction campaign: -mod:play_gallaeci

3/3 "In total: 'RomeTW-BI.exe -mod:play_gallaeci -show_err -nm -movie_cam'

In the Rome Total War Gold folder I have a new folder called (Roma Surrectum 2.5)

That's the problem.

What you need to do is copy everything that is inside the (Roma Surrectum 2.5) folder, paste it in the parent directory (in your case, Rome Total War Gold).
You will be asked to merge folders, and overwrite files, say yes to both.

Wow awesome response time guys thanks. I made more progress haha i heard an epic drumroll and the screen went talk (said something about gta vice city?) then when it looked like it was going to work:

Script Error in data/descr_event_images.txt, at line2984, column 1.

Unknown evene string settlement_razed

I'd suggest you reinstall over what you currently have using this method.

To fix this problem, do the following:

1. You need a clean and patched up version of RTW.
2. Download all the RS2 files, as shown in the release thread.

3. Now, install the RS2 mod to a new folder, created on the desktop. Mine is named Roma Surrectum 2.
4. When the mod has been completly installed, copy and paste the entire contents of the Roma Surrectum 2 folder, located on your desktop, to your freshly installed RTW game. folder.

5. Install the 2.5 patch to a new folder, just like step 3., and follow step 4. too.

6. The new launcher that has been created on the desktop doesn't work. This is because it is a shortcut that the installer has directed towards the Roma Surrectum 2 folder located on your desktop, which isn't a game folder. To fix this, right-click the shortcut and change the Target and Start In lines so that both point to your correct RTW folder.

So in my case, "C:\Users\Al Simmons\Desktop\Roma Surrectum 2\Roma Surrectum II.exe"

becomes "D:\Activision\Rome - Total War\launcher\Roma Surrectum II.exe"

etc.

7. If you did everything correct, the launcher on the desktop works. If it doesn't delete it and create a new shortcut from the "Roma Surrectum II.exe" file located in Activision\Rome - Total War\launcher.

Also the GTA thing means you have the bloom on. I'd suggest you disable it at first in the launcher.

When i downloaded RSII it was put in Libraries/Documents/Launcher so i pasted everything in Rome Total War Gold and it still says the 3 errors everytime please help

I read somewhere that the steam Alex, Bi en RTW exe`s total war has been changed partly to screw up mods like Roma surrectum because they are competing for the terribly poor successor ROME II, i have Rome II, but never play it, I do not like it..

My rome gold edition was broken and lost my alexander expansion, so I purchased the steamversions, but now I know, a waste of money and time..


But ! I've found two used games, Rome total war gold and Alexander expansion and bought it today, just because I like to try Roma surrectum, I have high expectations of it..

I recommend that the creators, manufacturers, developers, do their best to warn people, that steam versions of RTW GOLD and ALEX do not work with RS2

Mention it in the or this first post, at the download locations and anywhere where it says that steam and RS2 do work together, because They do not

and that is thedefect of steam..
