    Hello and welcome to this new project.
    Death and Taxes is a shokh-ing setting mod for Empire Total War.


    Background

    In the beginning of the 18th century European powers and their
    trading companies forced to drive away the pirates of the sea.
    One last bastion of them where settled in the Caribbean seas.

    Usually the pirates fought all on their own,
    but they had no chance to repel the attacks as scattered as they were.
    Till the time one great leader of the pirates, brought together all captains
    and persuaded them to forge an alliance, as last chance to hold against.

    So the buccaneers did in the hope to be able to regain control
    over the sea and enlarge their land territories.
    But even with this new founded pirate alliance they where not able to strike back.
    One day Captain Harshbone, the pirate leader who forged the alliance of the buccaneers,
    met a shaman who told him his story.

    The Shaman told him how he was terribly impacted by the Europeans
    who were encroaching on his land. He had lost his entire tribe,
    his family and friends, everyone he had ever known,
    to the swords and guns of the white man.
    So, in his grief, he spent days communing with the spirits.
    He wondered the jungle for days in a blur, feverish and unaware of his surroundings.
    While there, he saw visions. He was instructed, by the visions, to find
    a culture of monkeys living deep in the jungle somewhere in south America.
    The key for a revenge should rest there, told him his vision.
    He was sure that he cannot do this by his own, so he decided to band together
    with the only power who is not influenced by the Europeans
    and hate them as he do - the Pirates.

    Harshbone was unsure first, but the shaman promised him a great powerful future.
    He told him details about the land in south America where he can find
    the dark blood disease and treasures. So Harshbone finally agreed.

    The buccaneers set sails and reached those lands. The found rest of an very old culture,
    only ruins are left, mostly overgrown by the rain forest.
    Like the shaman promised the found what they are looking for.
    A beastly like monkey population who lived in the ruins of the fallen culture.
    The young monkeys where also infected but the disease had not advanced so much in them.
    So they killed the adult ones, plundered what they could in the ruins
    and took the young monkeys with them in cages.

    Back in their harbour the pirate leader decided to take the animals
    who carried the aggressive rabies with other goods on different ships
    and travel with neutral sails to the continents
    to sell the animals together with the other goods, like normal merchants.

    After the animals where delivered, the pirates only had to wait.
    The rabies got time enough to evolve into a danger who infected finally humans.
    The disease was growing slowly but certain and no one had answers
    how to stop this.

    But the disease where stronger than the pirates thought.
    After a few years half of the known world was overrun by hordes of infected,
    former normal men but now infected by the most aggressive rabies ever seen.
    The pirates plundered where they could, but often some of them also got infected
    and with every raid, they spread the disease further.

    The great nations where in fear. No one knew how such things could happen.
    The church told about the apocalypse, the diplomats said it is the fault of other nations.
    That they brought this disease to them like the pestilence.
    Alliances where broken, the world shattered.

    And here your journey begins.
    Chose your faction and survive, regain territories
    and take up the chance to conquer the world in this chaotic times!




    Content

    The finished mod will contain a very challenging campaign in where you can chose
    your faction to survive and conquer. The timeframe is untouched, starting year 1700.
    Regions will be re-arranged to ensure an interesting starting position.
    You can chose to play between normal factions, pirates or the infected.
    Even when the infected faction is best played by the AI,
    it´s the way it meant to be play this mod.
    They are at war with every faction in the world and have regions also in all theatres.
    Infected and pirates come with a full unit roster to chose of.

    Beside that there is included a new CAI, a new BAI, a lot of 2D art,
    sounds, music to give you the best possible experience.
    Finished it will be a mod with lot of changes,
    from time to time you will some small preview´s
    to shorten the waiting time.

    awesome! i could offer you some weapon adding knowledge. like knifes, clubs, spears(no pikes!, spears!), pitchforks, axes, etc. i could also make completely new weapons

    Listen! I can here some steps, well really as if someone dragging feet. And he is like saying something but I cant understand.

    And this smell. It is like a dead cat arround here.

    Bashing and smashing away on the Europeans with a bunch of soul sucking "zombies" .....
    Seems like a brilliant plan to me..! +rep awarded to Shokh and you others for making this up
    EDIT: I'll run into Top hat Zebra at some point I guess..

    GAAAAAAH!! The prospect of grotesque, entrail-devouring death lurking around every corner. A truly new spin on Empire…

    Great Work Gents.

    Just a thought here, but you wouldn’t need to implement the zombies as a playable empire/faction, (at least in the beginning.) Just make them an outside threat like the Mongol horde in MTW2. Just saying. Going up against a horde with fire-by rank would be magic. Voodooie disgusting, horrifying, undeady magic, magic none-the-less.
