Egypt in RTW was the most inaccurate faction. Except with the Phalanx formation, i dont find anything that accurate with it from that time.

Indeed. No more mummy's return egyptian plz make Hellenic Ptolemaic Egypt![]()
Meh, as-long as it's fun to play I don't mind.
Playing as Egypt was surprisingly some of the most fun I had back all those years ago in the first R:TW.
End of the day someone will make a realism mod (unless TW games can't get that stuff these days?) - Not sure ... haven't played TW games since RTW back when there was tons of mods. Are there mods like that these days for the newer TW games?
your sig is too large.

i have mixed feelings about this one. I recall (vaguely) reading something that said they went with the eygpt they did so as to avoid yet another cloned alexander decent phalanx army. And in my opinion as someone who enjoyed the game the first time round i think it was the correct decision to make. Accuracy should never get in the way of enjoyment. Though a little of both is nice![]()
Richard Archer - King of England
Egypt should not be in the game. Ptolemaic Empire covered the area by that time. It seems like CA didn't have the proper historian in 2003./2004. for Rome I .
End of story.
Well I think it would be much more fun if the Egyptians was in the same style as in Rome I!
Ok Ptolemaic Empire is the historically accurate, but it is no way near as fun.
When I think of ancient Egypt I donīt think of a wannabe Greek faction I want a Egypt whit Pharaohs and those kind of thing.
Historic accuracy is good, but I think in this case it would be more fun whit the 1500 BC Egypt!!

Sure, and the britons should be a high-medieval faction named Fishnchipsistan with super-longbowmen and William Wallace cavalry... Because it's FUN...
Ptolemaic Kingdom
305 BC - 30 BC

I would also like to see Ptolemaic Egypt.
That is exactly the same thing.
They best not be so OP. Somehow they always manage to conquer the East within like 20 turns.
I think back with shame to the time when I told my friends how "historically accurate" Egypt in RTW was.
At this point the only things missing are mummies and anubis-like jackal warriors. I hope that CA's decision to mess them up was better than wanting to add some diversity. If the egyptians were similar to the seleucids, that is how they should be. I feel like ignorance is a better reason than wanting to add diversity when abandoning accuracy.
And what so different then? Both are highly inaccurate portraits of the actual faction(s) that existed during the timeframe of Rome II.
Honestly, there is no excuse. They should not have Pharaoic Egypt in this game. Egypt was firmly ruled by the Greek Ptolemaic dynasty.
It's insultingly cartoon-ish and historically inaccurate.
Show me what units you are suggesting we have this >?![]()

Historical accuracy should be the alpha and the omega of such games. I didn't have fun fighting hordes of Bronze Age Egyptian infantry back then.
