Am I the only one who is afraid...

...Of the fact that Total war: Rome II will be even LESS moddable than ETW/NTW and S2TW?
I'm already shivering at the thought of the horrible historical accuracy.
Second, it looks obvious that they will spend 80% of their time in the playing system of Rome and will almost neglect the other factions.

What I'm looking forward too:

- Astonishing graphics.

- Better AI in terms of diplomacy (really RTW had the worst diplomacy ever).


What is horrifying me at the moment:

- Ancient egyptians with pharaos fighting Romans.

- Stereotypic Roman legions.

- Neglected factions oustide of Rome.

- Many more ahistorical features which won't be moddable at all.





So, what do you guys think that Total War: Rome II will be?
Will it be a blessing to the Total War community, making up for the many horrible mistakes in AI and 'unmoddableness', or will it be an even bigger curse to modders and history fanatics than the other titles?

Well, they are having a modding summit, so maybe they are genuinely wanting to better the modding. However, I think they take prioritization in optimization of the engine and AI this time around (even though people say it keeps people playing the TW games, the majority of buyers don't mod the game if at all).

at this point I dont think modding would be possible at all, if we could create our own units or insert our own flags is already a major step forward but mapping and doing custom scripts? yea I dont think that will ever be possible. However all of your fears resonates with me and I am sure we will get DLCs just for troops or unlocking faction...and can someone link the article where it says you can play as ALL of the factions? I am very skeptical about this...

I do think it will be less moddable. I think they`ve a thrown a Mods bone to modders for the now abandoned STW2.

I could be wrong, but that`s what I reckon.

Becouse mods usually tend to be more realistic with slower gameplay, vanilla is more arcade.
Hopefully we don`t need ANY mods!

Good luck making Rome 2 CA!
Even know pre-alpha stage, its more impressive what Shogun 2 or others have ever been... LOOK at that city-photo! Its sized of 5 Rome 1 cities...



Anyway, if it need modding, all of us should abandon other TW mods and start modding TWR2
