Compared to the size of those artillery machines, what concerns me even more is their power. Within one volley they were able to deal more than 60% damage to the wall. Similarly, within one volley they would've been able to smash more than half of a unit.

Artillery is very overpowered in this game. Among many other things.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OsgmuQYmb9QSo german village is besieged and the battle is completely open. The village on the battle is a spread out village. Which in reality is realistic. HOWEVER, the campaign map portrays this village as a walled settlement and it gets your hopes up. Plus what was the point in building siege engines? Seriously? Disappointed in this german village.

I finished watching that French video (finally). The Frenchman spent AN HOUR fooling around and wasted a lot of time, reselecting his units again and again and hanging around the same menus repeatedly for 15 minutes. He was not gifted in command either, sent his men to die one by one and a large part of his army stood outside the walls taking fire.

For the gameplay, AI seems poor.

Formations are actually non-existent in this game it seems. Every fight breaks down into groups of masses of men fighting against each other like unwashed fanatic barbarians (like those berserkers) who have no idea what a formation is, instead of proper units in formation, like in RTW. And that is the case no matter what faction it is, whether a large tribal army of Suebi or the professional, brilliantly organized and furiously disciplined standing army of a huge empire such as Rome.

Shamefur dispray, CA. Only graphics look good.

Now going to watch that German village video.

They sallied out that's why it didn't show the village. He didn't attack the enemy sallied out.

No need to worry, that wasn't a walled German settlement; the Boii had sallied, hence the "you are defending against the Boii!" in the battle deployment paint 0:22 in. As had happened with the Heir of Carthage video of Rome v. Samnite, the sally map takes place on the tile of the defending army, not the tile the attacker is on.

Sally battles should take place at the siege spot itself like in RTW, not in a random place outside.

The battle Fields look huge in scale but if you call that battle epic in scale your blind then sorry but it is true.... Also the battled lasted what 10 seconds after the first strike. The armies are small in scale and very disappointing and the battles don't even seem to last long even shorter in length then in shogun 2 what a shame. Graphics looks great but the game play thus far looks like crap. And the scale is not epic..... But Eye candy can go so far if the game-play is not good then the game will get boring quickly. Ill admit game looks good but not as epic in scale as what they have said it would be.

ok, finally got to watch the videos and damn, are the battles fast :p I like fast battles, but the battles shown in the videos are too fast even for me.

2 units clashed, 10 secs later, it is already over with, that is way too fast. maybe bigger unit sizes would help?

I would be changing these 2 asap I guess, can't wait to experiment and change.

edit: ok, spoke too soon, some of the battles lasted 5 to 10 mins, good enough for me.

    fear is helluva drug
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
“The only rule that ever made sense to me I learned from a history, not an economics, professor at Wharton. "Fear," he used to say, "fear is the most valuable commodity in the universe." That blew me away. "Turn on the TV," he'd say. "What are you seeing? People selling their products? No. People selling the fear of you having to live without their products." freakin' A, was he right. Fear of aging, fear of loneliness, fear of poverty, fear of failure. Fear is the most basic emotion we have. Fear is primal. Fear sells.” WWZ

Have you had your daily dose of fear yet? craziii

Does this game come with a health warning because it seems to be having some serious side-effects on those who are playing.

Health Warning: If you suddenly feel the urge to put all your units into a blob and charge stop playing immediately and take a break for about 10 minutes, the urge will soon pass and you can resume normal life once again.

    Watched the first 3 episodes.
Campaign gameplay seems to be the same. Diplomacy AI is ridiculous. Demanding 4000 for a trade agreement and reject anything below that, but they (was it the Rugii or Lugii?) have already managed to make 4 enemies. Pretty smart.
Boii campaign AI seems ridiculous too. They have 2 settlements but are easily overpowered. Might be better on higer difficulties, but still...

SPARTANS TONIGHT WE SHOWER IN BOILING OIL!!!!!!!!!

On a serious note though is what disappoints me about this game AI and the game in general is he was able to take the city and win most of his battles just lining all his men in long column formations god this is horrid.

Yes that is what worries me, no siege equipment boiling oil and still managed to take Athens, those Spartans are tough.
