It seems it's much more likely he's a place holder or just unfinished than the actual general model. Like when they released the arthage video, all the cavalry had their spears and shields on their back because there were no animations.

Fist thing is the cheekpieces, they are too small and the are not tied up under the chin. They are just flapping loose!

Would prefer that CA left lacing for helmets off. The tied headdresses for Rise of the Samurai look artificial and really silly.
Aside from that I agree with your post, tunicae and alignments look a tad... off.

Guys calm down about the cavalry man, having a infantry shield or the helmets look at bit wrong or that the tunics are a bit to short, it is still pre-alpha, they are far from done, they just show us some preview pictures, because people keep yelling at them to show more pictures and videos, so in pre-alpha ofcouse it has its mistakes, but that is only because it isen't done yet. I am sure that cavalry is not gona have infantry shields in the final game, so don't take the pictures now as the final game, like they also sayed in the Seige of Carthage video, alot of the graphics, animations and combat haven't even been implemented yet, so just give them so work space, they still have a long way to go

Right, that out of the way, on to what I think could be improved here.

Fist thing is the cheekpieces, they are too small and the are not tied up under the chin. They are just flapping loose. This makes their faces stand out too much. Also some helmets seem to be oddly placed, just a bit too far back on the head, like the rim is cutting into the forehead, or the bowl seems too high.

The Legate's helmet has no cheekpieces at all. I noticed this on some republican and thracian helmets as well. That doesn't look right to me.

The tunics are a bit too short. They should come to just above the knee.

No one is wearing a focale or scarf.

Why is the legate(?) wearing an infantry shield while on a horse, that's just undoable.

Horse furniture not done yet?

Why aren't they carrying pila? Marching with drawn swords???

Well, that's a good point, but CA are calling these guys Romans and the guy on the horse Varus. They are also calling the battle the "historical battle" of Teutoburg Forest (as opposed to a campaign battle). So, if that's the case, CA units artists should pay a better attention and not don an infantry scutum on a Roman legate.
I hope the pre-alpha excuse (which has been going on for months now) is actually true and these errors are corrected.

The fact that they've released those last three faction reveals in one week intervals does not mean we get another one today (I would love to be proven wrong though).

I think CA is going to keep the focus on Barbarians a while longer. They've met EU press this week. So I guess PC Gamer's exclusive period ended and we are going to see a bunch of articles and other stuff
in the comming days/weeks. But I bet thats all going to have a Barbarian theme.


My guess would be that we don't get another faction reveal until CA moves "East".

I hope CA will add saddles on horses. These photos they dont have it, but they need it. Also I hope they have control ropes on riders. Since Rome 1 - Shogun 2, All cavalry units dont have control ropes that rider can move his horse. It look more that Horse can running around without rider's orders and control.

Yeah, going of what happened with the siege of carthage, we got screenshots, then gameplay. So hopefully the same for the battle of teutoburg forest...... thats after the rip is taken from every picture given to us
