Thread: A few stupid questions.

    Default A few stupid questions.

I used the replace americas campaign method to install SS. It seems to be working great and i am having alot of fun i just had a few quick questions.

    1. I have my Americas replaced with early campaign, if i were to make a copy of the folder and replace another vanilla campaign with SS late, could i do it. That way i dont always have to go into the folders and use the setup file when i want a change up?

    2. I forget how to change the Turn numbers into the date.

    3. Does the AI follow the changes made by Big Gryms mod?

    4. Also keep gettint this annoying popup from the luancher about not being able to connect every time i launch the game.

    1. Erm, why are you using that rather odd method in the first place? Well, regardless: yes, you can do that. I just can't see why one would.

    2. <SS intal location>\data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign
    Open up descr_strat.txt
Find "show_date_as_turns" and place a semicolon on front of it ";show_date_as_turns". Save.
You'll need to start a new campaign to see any change.

    3. Are you referring to things like supply? Then no. The AI doesn't even know that system exists.

    4. Some more details as to the exact nature of that popup would be helpfull here.

    1. There is not a SS late or early version...
In the main folder there is a setup.exe ( or something like that... easy to find ).
Start it and choose early or late! If you chose "early" and want to play "late" simply change it here! Your old savegames will not be deleted!

    2. That will be a stupid answere because I do not know it but... Once a month this question is asked and answered... just search the forum

    3. The AI would not be able to handle all this! For the AI there is no real change! It is just for you!
This question is asked and answered in the BYG thread ( If I remember right on the first page ) and I am too lazy to copy and paste now so I am just guessing here... If the game is too easy for you play with it! This mod is made to increase the difficulty and not to make a "fair" ( and really boring ) game!

    4. What launcher? What popup? What are you trying to connect to?
I am sure that has nothing to do with the mod... I guess it is a steam problem...

I believe it is a common workaround for Steam users.

Really? Well, any method that depends on you gently caressing all over your instal still gets odd looks from me.
Why wouldn't you start the mod via Steam's launch option feature?

And a simple google search reveals this launcher app:

I know nothing about working SS with Steam since I don't have the game for Steam, but the Americas workaround is at the top of a stickied thread from Caesar Clivus about how to work SS with Steam, so I'm guessing it's commonly used. Not idea if or why it's better than other options.

Come on... stick to the OP questions and not try to force people to use the same kind of installation you have at home!

This is not what he asked for... if you want him to be like you, you must visit him and bring enough weapons to make the police leave you and your hostage alone...
