So true, mate. For some reason I actually like the Northern plate armour that Robb and Jorah Mormont wear but even those look ridiculously over-sized and clunky. And don't get me started on the helmets. The Kingsguard helmets are just bloody awful. Based on nothing and they look like they should be in an episode of Dr.Who, nevermind A Game of Thrones. The Lannister Household Guards have basically the same armour only in red so it looks just as bad.

These Unsullied take the cake though

Maybe i should rephrase it a litle, because i think that the equipment and costumes used by the northmen and most of the knigths and mercenaries in the many hauses of Westeros are ok, really (my personal favorites are the Nigthwatch and the Dothrakis, so the way to go would be a minimalistic design with a lot of leather and fur, perhaps?). The thing is, even at their best, these costumes don´t look particulary that good either. And when they fail, they fail big. Like with the Lannister helmets, or those guards at the gate of Qarth. And more recently, of course, these Unsuiled.

Those are the designs that really stick with you.

Naturally the ideal choice would be the reestablishment of a Valyrian Empire with Targaryans at its head, to subjugate the barbarians of Westeros, but since that is impossible, Stannis. It is his by right.
