    Default New Dwarf Portraits

    I've decided to make a little submod that changes the Dwarf portraits, i just thought it was weird that they were all different sizes/angles. Attached is the three starting characters with custom portraits, Thorgrim, the High King, Ungrim Ironfist, King of Karak Kadrin and Grimagrim, the slayer you start with outside Karak Kadrin. I'll put up the general Generals once i have a good number of them done (probably 15-20).

    From Left to Right;
    Row 1;
    Thorgrim*, Ungrim**, Muradin†, Chaos Dwarf, Long Drong, Garagrim‡, Slayer_1 and Slayer_2
    Row 2;
    Wife, Son, Daughter, Captain, Slayers 3-6
    Row 3;
    4 Generals and Slayers 7-10
    Row 4+;
    Generals and more Generals...

    *Thorgrim has grey/white hair in-game because he's in old age.
    **Ungrim only has orange hair, old and young, since he actually dyes his hair.
    †Muradin, Lord of Miners, Governor of Zhufbar.
    ‡The Slayer at the start outside Karak Kadrin.

    PPS
    To install unzip and drop into data/ui/cutom_portraits and overwrite, back up that folder if you like.

    I tried to get CoW to work ages ago but for some reason couldn't ( i think it may have been a faulty install of M2 ) and my friend reminded me of it the other day. I love TATW but i really think Warhammer is the perfect world for TW. I just realised i should have more black/brown beards from now on or they'll all start to look like slayers.

    Man oh man those are some good looking portraits. You've picked the right time to come back to COW too, the latest version is more complete, more polished, and more stable than ever before. If you've got Gigantus's version, you're golden and set up completely

    Thanks. Yeah i'm using Gigs version, not least because it was the only one with working links It's great fun really well made, a few bugs here and there (mostly visual and not of much consequence).

    Good project, the images are also well choosen, as the background is.
    I will wait eagerly to download it, I just cannot stand anymore the vanilla dwarven portraits.

    Great job so far! I just want to point out that the image you have used (3rd from bottom-right) is a Chaos Dwarf!

    I know, i just stuck him in there for the fun of it, he's one of the special characters, i was thinking of making the starting Chaos Dwarf leader have that as his portrait since the Dwarves and Chaos Dwarves share the same culture/portraits.

    Something i'm finding hard to get is a picture of a dwarven boy or maybe a dwarf with a small beard for the son portrait.

    Uploaded all the slayers plus Thorgrim, Ungrim, Muradin and Long Drong Silver. That's all of the ones in the custom_portraits folder (just unzip it into there and overwrite).

    PS
    I'm up to 30 generals so i think i'll take a break and put them in-game.

    Splendid work smoesville +1, are you planning doing Empire ones too, or others? One thing if your open for suggestions, might be a personal preference, but you could try adding a bit of shadow behind the avatars, it would make them stand more out from the backround.

    Perhaps, or i could fade the background a bit. Most of the time in game you see the character without the background, like in vanilla. I do plan to make more, firstly for Chaos, my friend plays as them so he asked me to do it.

    Oh my god these are phenomenal! It would be amazing if you could make portraits for some of the other races aswell! These are great. Can't wait to use them. My biggest pet peeve with this mod and other Warhammer mods is all the portraits are so random in size and style and having no continuity to them. Looks like I may have to start up a Dwarf campaign just to enjoy these to full effect.

    I would be glad to combine forces, my main stumbling block has been finding new images (i think i've got 45 or so and then that's it). The only thing i'd say is the examples you show above are very close in which kind of negates the point of having a background but also the reason i chose the size i did was so the border that's on some of the views (the one where you view a governor in a city with the golden border) obstructs much of the face.

    That can be easilly fixed if you wish the borders smaller. The dwarven UI is years old, so it would be time already to give it some tweaks. Specially now if the general-pics will be improved to the level CoW deserves.

    I actually really like it the way it is. I just prefer that the character image be smaller.
