Thread: turns take too long?

  1. #1

    Default turns take too long?

    why do the turns take up to a minute or 2 to finish is there a way i can speed it up it went at a good pace with other mods and regular or is it just this mod?i love to play the mod but the sheer wait time keeps me from playing it.

    Really that long??
    Are you playing a vanilla SS r with submods??
    Remember using Byg's submod drasticly increases turn times

    But if i recall correctly SS doesn't increase turns times that much in comparison to vanilla medieval 2

    yeah, I don't mind the time between turns either, it's barely 1 minute ...you won't die

    Except version 2 or 2.5, which have no effect at all on turn times because they have so few features.

    SS also does in fact have longer turn times than vanilla because it has more stuff in it.

    But what's the point in using only part of your submod right??
    Currently on a Crusader States Dash, so far I've tried 8 campaigns and lost them all but
    I am getting there....

    I have the same problem, vanilla turns take 10-15 seconds when about 50 turns in, 50 turns in with SS it takes me ~2 mins im thinking maybe my RAM needs increasing but im not 100% sure

    play it in windowed and you can do something else on computer while it processes AI turns.

    If you want to reduce turn times, just take out scripts that you think are unnecessary. If you're too lazy to do it manually, there's a submod by SerbianHussar (I think that's his name) which will lighten the script load for you.

    but this is a big price to pay for shorter turns (and come on, the time between them isn't even so long, how much can this submod shrink it ?); I mean, by taking out those scripts don't you also loose some essential things ?

    That's the beauty of doing it manually rather than using the submod. You can pick and choose which scripts you want to take out, so you don't take anything out that's important to you. Some people with crappier computers (e.g. me) need to optimize the scripts as much as possible in order to avoid very long turn times.

    Oh we have that problem since the M2TW and it was always going to be an issue for the gamers. We once even had a thread wher epeople would recommend to each other what to do during the turn time, because soem people claimed it would take it even more than 15 minutes to change turns. Me personally, I read the book during the turn changing times, so sometimes it takes 3 or 5 or 10 minutes, but I am never bored!

    I have the game on borderless windowed mode (which I think SS is on by default?), so I just alt+tab and browse Reddit during turns.

    My fairly powerful gaming PC(top of the line for Medieval 2) runs pretty well though @_@ I'd say 30 seconds or so for a full load

    It gets shorter the more factions you kill though

    Reguar windowed mode is ugly though. What you want is borderless windowed mode. Go into your SS folder and find default.txt. First of all, make sure it doesn't say "windowed = false" in the file anywhere. If it does, delete that. Then add these two lines.

    windowed=true
    borderless_window=true

    That way the game will still look like it's maximized, but you can alt+tab like it's windowed.

    It's already automatically like this in SS so you don't need to edit the file.
