    Icon3 Campaign Economy Guide

    Hello mates.

Iīve seen in gameplay videos and heard from people via my steam contacts that some struggle a bit with economy. So this little Guide should help you getting started and turns your faction in a strong power.

    Intro Campaign settings
I would suggest very hard campaign and normal battles or hard campaign and hard battles.
Donīt be afraid you will be able to hold against with some hints.

    Starting situation

No faction have starting armies and most of the buildings/infrastructure is very weak.
Trade agreements are also not existant at this time, and there is a bit of unrest in your regions.

    First turn The first turn

We have plenty to do in this first turn.

First of all recruit in every region at least 3 units. Militia would be fine or volunteers. They should not be moved out of the cities, because youīll need them for repression.

Additional build some more units in cities next to your direct opponent (csa or us).

Next step is to check the infrastructure. For now ensure that you build in every region at least the first stage of it. It will raise your income well.

Destroy schools, religion buildings and happiness buildings. Those buildings are not important (they will in future updates). We will build there later profit buildings.

Then look out for empty building slots over your whole country. US will find several of them where it can build fur stations, cs have also a few of them.

Start construction on every of this slots. Ensure that you chose buildings which generates money.

How many money do you have now? Depending on that upgrade those buildings till you have no more money:

Mines - They provide a very high amount of money.
Governement buildings - But for now only those where you get more income. First all who costs only 1000.
Government buildings - Second, Military orientated to get better units.

At least try to get as much trade agreements you can. But not with your direct opponent (us or csa) and not for giving away regions.

In the first turn it may be hard but in the following turns it will get easier to get trade agreements.

    Second turn The second turn

Units are built and those save the order in your regions. So itīs time to raise the taxes. This is important as they are set to the minimum at beginning.

Raise them as much as you can but not that any region turns red in the map of the tax window.
The best would be to a level where most regions are displayed green and maybe a few yellow.
All yellow may work too, but mostly then you lose more money to keep public order then you get.

Second try for trade agreements. It will be now easier then in the first turn as you improved your economy and infrastructure. If a nation wonīt make an agreement offer them money for it. Try about 2000 funds at beginning, you can raise this to about 4000/5000. It is worth it as you get every turn a lot of extra money.

If someone still donīt want, then try it later when your economy is even better.

And another building upgrade round. Now build new buildings where you destroyed your schools, churches, happiness buildings. Then either upgrade infrastructure to the second level in all regions or upgrade first all mines and farms.

    Following turns Following turns

Now we should have a good position when your opponent declare war. Donīt rush now in their lands. Keep defending a few turns and continue to upgrade your economy. Infrastructure, plantages, and goverment buildings should have priority. But donīt forget to upgrade your military buildings as well.

Increase the amount of troops in your border towns for better units. Behind this border you can let 3-5 militias in the other cities.

With those hints you should have more money to spend in bigger and better armies.
    Have fun with your game.

    Regards, shokh
