Default Roman & Greek Atlast: Good idea or not?

    Hi everyone,

I desire to buy a Roman and Greek topographical atlas, as this lends to understanding the 2 cultures more keenly insofar as a host of different areas are concerned.

Is it worth buying this or not?

    For example, The Byzantine Empire........
I have a History of the Byzantine Empire but the maps are scanty and not topographical, hence the lack of keener understanding regarding my roots (Greco-Byzantine).

The atlas I'm considering is quite large and extensive and was was released in 2000.
    It is expensive also.

    Comments please are requested!

    Thank you,
    hellas1

I'm not sure this belongs in the College of History.

But in any case, how expensive are we talking?

If you provide us a link or something to have a look at what the atlas contains, perhaps we would be able to give you a better answer.

    Hi Gen. Chris,

    The atlas is $300 used.

    Here's a link: http://press.princeton.edu/titles/6773.html

Another here strictly for the atlas in greater detail: http://www.unc.edu/depts/cl_atlas/

    It IS quite expensive.

    Thanks,

    My opinion...

That's an awesome book. But I don't know if it would be worth 300 bucks. You could spend that much money on numerous books about the same topic, I would imagine.

But hey, it's your money. Do with it as you please. If you don't like it at the end, you could always sell it. It doesn't appear to be going down in price anytime soon.

    @Gen. Chris,

Yeah, It IS awesome. But it IS expensive.

Even with the different books available, none that I've seen have topographical maps.

Take for example the "Roman conquests" book series on amazon.com:
    Virtually no topography
    All writing

I know because I saw a copy of one of the books and thumbed through it.

    Thanks anyway man,
    hellas1
