    I have not used a Forum before so if my typing is bad or I did something wrong in forum "Good Manners" I do sincerely say I am sorry.

    I have been a civil war war history fan all my life and stumbled on this video on the internet. The video was about this MOD for Empire Total War called " ACW brothers versus brothers" or perhaps "ACW blue versus gray"

    I was absolutely in awe of this "MOD". The spectacular graphics and attention to detail of Civil War history. So I went out and bought "Empire Total War" and the expansion "Warpath".

    Then I downloaded ACW 3.1 (because I thought the Trailer of video of ACW was fantastic. Frankly the only reason I bought "Empire Total War" and the expansion "Warpath" was to be able to play this "MOD" ACW and I found out it was a requirement to play ACW)


    My questions I and need some help I guess....Thanks in advance hopefully


    QUESTION #1

    I had to download a "MOD" called "fonts3steplarger.pack" and a program called "Mod Manager version 1.5" to install it. The reason being nothing to do with ACW as I could not play the "vanilla" Empire Total War without this "MOD" as the text graphics on Empire Total War where WAY, WAY to small to play the game enjoyably. I am not the only ony one to complain. Many many people have downloaded this "MOD" to get Empire Total War to work with usable graphics. This "fonts3steplarger.pack" makes the "vanilla" game work great (you can read the fonts in the game without a microscope).

    Well here lies my question----- how do I get get this "MOD" (fonts3steplarger.pack) to work with "ACW Brother versus Brother MOD". It is like I play the basic Empire Total War game "The road to revolution" and the text is readable. But when I play ACW the text graphics comes out to small and unreadable.

    When I do get ACW version 3.1 working (It is tempormental) sometimes I try to play the "Battles" instead of "campaign" and it wont let me do it. I try to play "Gettysburg day 2" and when you click the check box it won't acknowledge you clicked to play the battle.

    I am done here. I just want to say thanks to the people who made "ACW Brother versus Brother MOD" as I can tell they put their blood, sweat and tears into this wonderful recreation of American Civil War history.

    I AM JUST KIND OF MAD IT WILL NOT WORK ON MY MACHINE ( I have a good high powered processor and video card)

    Hi there,

    i am now able to recruit them too but theese units are not declared as generals but normal dragoons. for example: when i recruit some infantry and after that general lee, the leading unit ( the general unit hope you know what i mean) stays a infantry unit.

    You need to start steam before you start the launcher, if you let the launcher start steam and then the game, it will crash when you try and enter a custom battle or campaign. If you happen to do this, just restart the computer and run staem first, before the launcher.
    Tried that and still didn't work. Heck my ETW wouldn't work after installing ACW. Had to remove ACW and completely reinstall ETW via stream to get ETW working again. And reinstalling ETW via stream takes a few hours even if you have the disk.

    Welcome to ACW mod forums!

    For the fonts mod. Start ACW launcher and in edit menu open script editor and add the name of the mod pack without the extension, i.e. fonts3steplarger. Then select ADD button, check the list to be sure that the command is made as: mod "fonts3steplarger.pack"; and select Update User Script (else Remove and try again). Close the editor and continue by selecting your campaign (if necessary) and faction to play.

    Have you installed version 3.0 prior 3.1?

    That is not normal. Just checked db and units are in all levels available, including the highest (army_staff_college and engineer_school). In the card info of the building there are no units shown in enable?

    You mostly dont need a full reinstall. Just delete the empire.user_script file in your scripts folder to get ETW working again.

    Hmmm, fixed my problem by reinstalling all ACW contect, running 3.1 fine. Except I can't start RTI 3.

    I don't have warpath, and i can try to launch the game with. But for the one who have problems whith campain launching, do you play warpath or RTI3 ?

    Generals can be recruited in certain turns. The save is already in 11th turn so only the generals available after this turn will be able to be recruited. After a couple of turns Mosby reports for duty (this is your save fixed):

    Haven't autosave worked? If not can you zip and post it to have a look?



    Check in startup troubleshoot the tip about Steam.
    Autosave may work, but the game freezes whenever I am attacked by the Union. I will fight the battle, the other factions will complete there turn and then I cannot do anything when it is my turn. All of the buttons (recruitment, build, diplomacy) are not functional. In fact the change to a grayish color.
