A few bugs and what might be bugs:

Have suffered two CTDs already, once while playing the fourth historical battle (can't remember name), and another while playing a custom Gondor vs Mordor fight on the Grassy Plain map.
Sauron and Balrog stand around in middle of enemy horde, doing nothing for about five seconds, perform basic attack, repeats pattern. Only seen in custom battles so far, haven't fought them in real life. They are both loners in this case by the way, against two groups of Gondor Militia, each on a separate battle (I was testing them out). Also on Grassy Plain BTW.

Keeps resetting my unit scale. I click apply changes, but by the next time I open the game, it's reset itself.

I may have a very unique situation, but I am playing Third Age through my mac using crossover and steam. The game plays great, except sometimes when I open the program all of my units and partially the enemy units in my battles don't load completely often just the bottom half or their feet, particularly if I zoom in, sometimes they load fine at a distance. Occasionally though I've played and the units come through completely fine, and I've tried using the lowest settings for everything and using the recommended setting for my computer which usually puts it about the high setting for most of the sliders. Both adjustments have worked, and not worked. It seems almost random when I run the program which one I will get, though more often then not the units are not fully visible. Please let me know what you think might work, should I redownload the patches/or/ and reinstall the patches, perhaps just 3 parts 1 and 2, the whole thing.

Thanks for any help you may have, the game seems really great, just want to be able to watch a berserker tear apart some rohan cavalry.

I'm having a problem at the Black gates. when it's besieged and i have reinforcements on the inner side of mordor one stack splits up and spawns three sides of the map some try to come through from the behind but can't seem to be able to others on the sides behind enemy positions.

Hello, recently i downloaded the third age total war mod for my medieval 2 total war kingdoms edition. I have the steam version and run on a 64 bit windows 7 program. As far as I know I have downloaded all the necessary parts of the download, which include the TATW downloads 1&2, plus the 3.1 and 3.2 patches. However, whenever i attempt to launch the mod, (and yes I have renamed the files to allow the program to run) it crashes after about five seconds of attempting to load. How do i fix this? Any help given would be greatly appreciated.

Hello there and welcome to TWC Forums!

As you can see from the thread title, this one is just for reporting bugs and issues, and not for fixing them. Better to open up a New Topic/ Thread in the future.

Anyway, follow these steps to install TATW on steam and Windows 7 : http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...1#post13744280

    Good luck!

Finally got around to trying out The Third Age and I am really impressed. I have encountered a nasty bug, though. I am playing the campaign as the Dwarves and whenever my axe throwers are about to throw their axes the game crashes. I know that "Axethrower sounds" has been listed as a known bug, but I am pretty sure this is something a bit more drastic. Any advice and/or suggestions on how to get around this issue? Besides not playing as Dwarves, of course.

Hi there and welcome to TWC Forums!

This issue means you have installed TATW 3.2 Patch wrong..

    1) Make a NEW FOLDER somewhere on your Desktop.

    2) Install ONLY TATW 3.2 Patch into this NEW FOLDER.

    3) Open this NEW FOLDER, and, there should be two folders located there: data and mods folder. Select/highlight both of them, right mouse click and press COPY.

    4) Go to location of your main Medieval 2Total War folder ( mine is in C: Games/ Sega folder) . Do not open your main M2TW folder, you just right mouse click on it and press PASTE ( so, I for example right mouse click on my Medieval 2 Total War folder which is in C: Games/ Sega folder ).

    5) Merge ALL Folders when asked, Copy and Replace ALL Files when asked.

    Try again your Dwarven Axethrowers.

    Hi guys,

I may be paranoid and confused about this, but what happens after Golum or someone else has stolen the ring off you? I played on for about four hours hoping it would appear again and it didn't.

I took at look at the script and the parts that have golum/someone else steal the ring have some variables connected to them, but none that would appear to allow the ring to appear in a city again, and I can't see anywhere else in the script that will give the ring directly back to the character.

Am I being really blind to something?

    Thanks.

    Hi,
I'm new to this mod and I've started with the High Elves and I've found a problem with using the Palantir. I do what it tells me, moving Cirdan to Elostirion and pressing F3, but then I'm met with a screen with some code on it that disappears too fast for me to read and it reverts the campaign back to the first turn and the sound stops working. I also think my money is unaffected which is odd. Any suggestions?

Some users experience these issues, M2TW engine is not optimised for every CPU and GPU available, mostly for Intel and NVidia..
    1) What mod are we talking about: vanilla TATW 3.2 Version?

    2) What are your system specifications? post your dxdiag.

    3) Were you having these problems even before, or they just started?

    4) Any other unit gives you a CTD: Mumakil, Sauron, Balrog, Mirkwood Spiders?

Just to specify, the crash occurs every time the enemy catapult is about to fire

    1. Vanilla 3.2, no submods.

    3. Can't remember, seldom meet enemy with catapults. I had the reinforcement crashes before, but I think I got them fixed.

    4. No, Mumakil etc. worked fine in my previous game.

I don't see any issue with your system specs which are more than enough.. I do not see the reason for this kind of crash, have you tried updating your GPU, lowering Video Options, turning off Effects, Bloom off, changing resolution, playing with/ making tweaks in NVidia settings in NVidia Control Panel?

American, French, Israeli and British government's ILLEGAL aggression against the Syrian people, without any proof for chemical attacks in Douma, and without waiting for OPCW to conduct their investigation..
Sons of *******, leave that poor, war torn country in peace.
If you are a citizen of one of these countries, then DO NOT ask any help from me on these forums, since, in protest against this aggression by your governments, I do not provide assistance/help anymore.
Let Syria be finally in peace.

A video of false chemical attack in Douma, Syria, which led to Western illegal attacks.

I can update the GPU again (they are not very old so unless they made a new error I doubt it helps).

I got the impression from this thread that this was a known bug... maybe some missing code. I can try tweaking some and maybe reinstalling. But if cats works for everyone else I guess there is another reason.

The desktop shortcut for Third Age has no image and does not load the game, just brings up a blank error-like box, I can however launch the game by clicking medieval kingdoms 2 shortcut and selecting the correct campaign, anything to worry about/something I may be missing out on with the broken shortcut or no?

    Hi folks,

first off, thanks a million for this awesome mod. I've been having a lot of fun with it lately. However, I now get the dreaded "unspecified error" plus black-screen-with-the-one-ring of death crash in one specific battle that I've tried over and over, applying all the fixes my limited google-fu managed to turn up. I've experienced some random CTDs at various points before, but I was never plagued by two instances of the same crash in a row (i.e., after restarting the program, things were good again). This crash is a bit strange, as I can enter battle just fine, even play the first minute of it, then the crash occurs. For this reason I'm guessing there's some faulty sound file or animation that's causing the problem.

The in-game situation: I'm playing Gondor, sending a stack to Umbar, attacking a small stack outside town to draw out the garrison and defeat it in a field battle. My forces consist of the usual early Gondor stuff (militia troops plus generals). Harad has Trollmen, Muhad, spearmen, and a Serpent Guard general as reinforcement. When my troops enter battle with an enemy unit (doesn't matter which) or shortly thereafter, the game crashes, reliably, every time.

What I've tried: daylight savings time turned off; descr_geography files deleted; used Turbo Boost (comes with Advanced System Care), and didn't use it at other times; deleted map.rwm. I've not turned off UAC, but TATW never gave me any trouble before, it's just this one battle that always crashes the game.

My specs: M2TW gold DVD (non-Steam) edition; laptop with Win 7; intel core i5, 2.3 GHz, NVidia Geforce GT 540M, 4GB RAM, lots of free disk space.

I'm not (yet) worried by this problem, I'd just like to report it. Will try to go without that battle for once.

You are experiencing a Reinforcement bug. The link for the fix is here: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...ntial-bugfixes

You will have to start a new game after applying the fix.

Or, continue your campaign, but, avoid battles with reinforcements present on either side.

If you have Steam, then that TATW Shortcut is not needed, and don't worry about it.

    descr_faction_standing.txt has some backward entries...

This is actually making Elves dislike Dwarves:
    Code:
    Trigger 0114_Make_Dwarves_Dislike_Elves
        WhenToTest FactionTurnStart

        Condition FactionReligion islam

FactionStanding exclude_factions { sicily, milan, turks, scotland, moors, papal_states, hre, france, england, venice, spain, portugal } normalise -1.0 80
    It should be:
    Code:
    Trigger 0114_Make_Dwarves_Dislike_Elves
        WhenToTest FactionTurnStart

        Condition FactionReligion orthodox

        FactionStanding factions { moors } normalise -1.0 80
These ones are back to front as well:

    0112_Make_Evil_Factions_Hate_Good_Factions
    0113_Make_Good_Factions_Hate_Evil_Factions

...but each does what the other describes so it still all works in the end, just the trigger names are incorrect.
