Map making challenge!

Hi all,

Everyone here at CA has been incredibly impressed at some of the awesome modding work seen over here at TWC over the past decade or so. We've also loved the battlefields you've created so far in TEd, and we're all dying to see what else you can come up with.

With that in mind, we're launching a little competition. To take part, all you need to do is create a video of you creating an awesome map and link it to this thread, much like Robinhood2109 in this cool video:

Closing date is June 30th



All you need to do is capture your screen using a program like Fraps. You can adjust the speed so it's in the speed-art style, if you like.

The best map will get a choice of the two prizes below, and the runner up will get the other prize. We have a great MMO 7 mouse (which I really want, by the way), and an awesome AX-180 headset to give away.




The winners will be judged by the actual map design team here at CA, and they'll give you direct feedback on what they liked about your map! We'll also feature the best entries on our Facebook page (Facebook.com/totalwar)

We can't wait to see what you come up with!

Thanks for the challenge! My dog just recently chewed through my good mouse wire do I'm using my crappy one.

Now that the weekend is apon is soon I'll start creating it right away.

Edit:hey, does the outcome actually have to have a real map in the video? Or can it just be a bunch of pattern like sand art.

Looks good idea, but sadly my map talent is not in master-level and this ram eating a lot, so I will not take part of competition.

I would by this campaign map right away. This is tenthousand times better than additional clans DLC.

It would be nice to see some feedback from CA... Sure it's more work, but as I said several time, why not ask the community for help with research and design?
There is surely a way to reduce the cost for CA, and since it would be a DLC with good contents they could sell it for a fair price without much complaints, and probably make good profit.

I would use a different argument:

Thanks to steam, games can receive almost unlimited patches and DLC with ease, as long as the developer wants to.

Yet companies stop supporting their games as soon as their next title is released. This seems logical, as all developers moved on to the next game(s).

Some old games are still being played frequently, like Empire and Napoleon.

Make it an experiment for the whole gaming industry: releasing DLC for a game that has been out for a couple of years... Is it profitable? Maybe. Possibly. Some new DLC for empire would make me want to play it again, and it might bring new players to the franchise.
