A Stressful Evening (Closed Rp)

It had been a stressful evening for Maegor as he sat at his desk in his quarters. He looked over various books and reports from across Westeros, but the subject on what had happened today was still upon his mind. Maegor sighed lightly, rubbing his head a little. It was indeed hard to choose which of the two options: favor the Dorne or leave them where they are. Godwen knocked on his door.

Your cousin, Beren, is here to see you, Your Grace

Let him in, Godwen.

Ser Godwen lets in Beren as Maegor pours two glasses of wine.

Beren sat next to him and massaged his hands, making them crack. He then took the goblet and drank deep. He sighed. I miss the piss tasting wine of Bronzegate... Tasted aweful when compared to this, but tasted a lot more like home. He grinned lightly. What's in your mind, cousin? You look like . He drank a bit more.

A matter involving the courts...Ullen suggested that a trial of combat ensue between two champions of the Dorne against the two knights who killed and raped Prince Doran's sister as well as her children. However, the two knights are servants of the Lannisters...and I doubt Harald will allow his two favored knights to be killed in combat to even slightly try to gain favorable relations with the Dorne. It is a tough decision.

Maegor leans back and sips his wine as well, looking outside.

I know that. But you know I have no experience in these matters...I was a soldier and a general once, never gave a care for politics. Unlike my brother, Robert.

Maegor sips his wine and looks at Beren.

You aren't influenced by the courts, cousin...mind if I ask you about how you view this matter?

Beren watched Maegor for some time, seemingly thinking his answer. He then took another gulp. A King needs to be strong... needs to be just... and needs to have friends... If he isn't strong, he is bullied by others. If he isnt just, he is hated by commoners and nobles alike. And if he has no friends... he's dead. Beren gave another gulp, and didnt speak more. As if wanting to see what the King could get from those words.

Maegor looks at Beren and nods slowly. He strokes his chin slightly.

It would be best to leave things the way they are it seems. The Lannisters are my allies and have remained good friends. It would not be worth losing such a strong ally with people who hold disdain for the mainland...and have always tried to assert their independence in the past.

The King sips his wine and looks at Beren.

Perhaps my heir will deal with that issue.

Eddard, having just finished with some tasks decided to visit his friend Maegor. He walks up to the door and knocks knowing that something important could be happening inside.

Maegor chuckles lightly and sees Eddard.

Involving the Martells. Ullen suggested that a means of repairing our relations with them is to have a trial of combat between the two knights who raped and killed Elia against two champions of the Dorne. However, after some thought, I would trust the Lannisters more than the Martells.

Beren then grew silant, letting the lords debate on their own what they thought of the matter. He was a descrete man when it came to politics, and wasn't one to show his views if not asked.
