    Default How to disable trade carts and ships on campaign map?

    For a few years i didn't see any trade cart or trade ships on the campaign map on Med2 and Kingdoms and all mods. I don't know how it happened then. But now, somehow all the settings of M2tw were set to default, and now they appeared again. Bad part is it lags very much (where there is huge trade) and i got used withouth them.

    So the title says it all, can someone please tell me how can i disable them from Med2 and all mods again?
    And sorry if wrong forum, this is best place i could think off...

    The animations are hard coded, and I have no idea how you disabled them. But you could reduce the lag by exchanging the 'skins' of the animations by 'invisible' textures.
    You can find the relevant textures in the data\terrain\aerial_map\ships\textures and data\terrain\aerial_map\wagons\textures folders.

    Edit: I believe if your in game graphic settings are low or very low then the animations will be disabled.

    i'm guessing i have to unpack the game to do that. and i'd have to create the invisible textures and replace the vanilla ones. and none of these i know how to do unfortunately, i don't know much modding, only to edit some text files. and i have only 1GB free on the partition where Med2 is, no room for unpacking then.

    i put all settings on low/very lowest and disabled shadows and everything, still there.

    so from the folder path you gave me i removed the Riczu textures of trade carts and ships from the mods i have to reset them to vanilla ones, it should help a bit.

    EDIT: wait i realised i could add the invisible textures to all mods, i don't play vanilla anyway. so if you have them or you know that even a noob like me could create such a thing, i'd really appreciate if you could put them as attachment/tell me how can i create them.

    Ich have made some 'alpha' textures for the ship and the wagon. Create the folders as mentioned in my previous post (in your base\vanilla installation) and then copy the textures there.

    This was a bit confusing. But i think i understood.

    From a mod, i previously deleted all files (Riczu textures) in those 2 folders (ships and wagons), the mod now had the vanilla ones. I created the folders in D: Med2/data, that's what I understood you said, and i put there and in that mod too the files from the attachment. But no change in-game, the vanilla ones are still there. Do I need to put iofile_first (or however it was) in cfg?

    Anyway, I thank you again for your help this far, i'll just leave the vanilla ones as they are, the Riczu ones were the reason for the lag, along with a few PC things i resolved also.

    Oh, you are using riczu's models.

    Simply remove those folders (wagons, ships) from that mod and copy my files into directories in the data folder of the main game.

    The alpha files belong into the ...data\terrain\aerial_map\wagons\textures folder. The files needed are
    trade_wagon.tga.dds
    trade_wagon_horse.tga.dds
    trade_wagon_wheel.tga.dds
    If you have unpacked the game (check the section on how to unpack individual files) then simply use the transparency.tga.dds file from the ...\data\models_strat\residences\textures folder, copy and rename it and place the files in the folder specified above.

    If you change the unit size to small the carts and ships go away on the campaign map.

    There is also a way to start a campaign with normal size units, save, back out then change unit size to small. Then your campaign will have regular units with no carts or boats.

    3 years later... there might be your answer. hehe
