Default Emperor Batman's Marching Bands: The Music of War

Pre-word. This mod was inspired by Brigadier Graham's similar mod series for Empire: Total War. He pioneered the original idea.

    The Mod in Action.

    Versions of the Mod.
This mod creates a new band unit that plays marching music in battle to increase the morale of friendly troops.

This is the list of factions and what tunes are played. I tried to remain historical to the Napoleonic period with the music selection.

    Prussia:
    Hohenfriedberger Marsch
    Yorcksher Marsch
    Marsch Herzog von Braunchweig
March of the 1st Guard Battalion
    Freiwillingen Jagers Marsch
    Alexander Marsch

    Austria:
    Coburger Marsch
    Unknown March written in 1800
Radetzky Marsch (Ahistorical, but a good one)
    The Austrian Grenadiers March
March of the 3rd Royal Landwehr Battalion
    Prinz Eugen Marsch

    Russia:
March of the Lifeguard Cossacks (I think a little after the period, also known as the Wedding March)
    Preobrazhensky March
    Semenovsky March
Frederick-Wilhelm III St. Petersburg Regiment March (Copied from a similar march by the Prussians)
Jagers March (another copy from the Prussians)
    Iszmailovsky Guard March

    France:
Pas de Charge of the Marines of the Guard - La Victoire est a Nous
La Victoire est a Nous (The Victory is Ours, Standalone)
    La Grenadiere
    Pas de Accelere
    March of the Grognards
    Bonnets a Poil

    Britain:
    Rule Britannia
    The British Grenadiers
Over the Hills and Far Away
    Liliburlero
The Girl I Left Behind Me/Brighton Camp
    The Downfall of Paris

Scottish Bagpipe Marches for Britain and Scotland:
Cock o' the North (the Gordon Highlanders March, featured in the movie Waterloo)
    Scotland the Brave
Amazing Grace (Really amazing when this plays with the reinforcements to save the day)
    Black Bear
    Highland Laddie

    A few notes and warnings.
The way the NTW music files are set up, your army will only play one of the marches. However, in battle if there a reinforcing army has a band, it will play a different tune from the main army.

It is also very important that you use only one mod at a time, otherwise there will be conflicts. Only activate the band mod for whatever faction you're playing as.

Also please feel free to suggest improvements and new songs.

    Installation.
    1. Download the mod http://www.mediafire.com/?ne8nconbnq94ode.
    2. Unzip any/all of the band mods and the also unzip the Universal_Compatibility_Loc and place the files in your data folder (Program Files/Steam/SteamApps/Napoleon Total War/Data)
    3. Activate a mod with mod manager or user.script and enjoy. Only use one at a time!

Very nice. Thanks EB! A very full list of choices!

Feel free to adopt and use any from my old thread on this!

    1. Le Chant du Depart
    2. La Chant de l'oignon (favored assult song of the Old Guard) - which has the sounds of guns in the background so is best used with Grouchymod.
    3. Men of Harlech (for Private Normal)
    4. La Marseillaise (for Captain Blackadder)
    5. Russian Senny Song: Ah, You of Shade, Mine of Shade (for mattebubben)
    6. Ottomans
    7. La Victoire a Nous (for Elchnase)
    8. La Chant de l'oignon (cleaner version - no battle sounds)

well done but about assembly for Russia :

1 Lifeguard Cossacks His Majesty's regiment (full name ). The version from CNBR (conductor Alexey Karabanov) is a good choice
5 Jagers March (another copy from the Prussians) - you aren't right, not fact that it Prussian march - unknown author. Fact that in Russia started to use it earlier.

Brilliant mod, I find the number of quality matching music mods for this game somewhat disappointing but this one certainly strikes a cord with me.

Perhaps it would be better if they played a little louder though, I am using the British band at the moment and although wonderful I would like to be able to hear it when I'm a little distance away if that were possible. Also can't wait for the sott band if that's still expected.

A quick but minor note as well, this mod has a bit of an issue with the AUM (Extra units mod by Swiss Halberdier) units, as they all can play as the band does.

That problem is because some of those units have Fifers. To get the marches rather than the drum roll, I needed to add a fifer and drummer to the unit. Then I had to take out the fifers from all vanilla units.

I put this together for you, it only includes the French and the British bands but it was rather time consuming none the less

I've posted a new version, this time with a link to Mediafire for a zip with all mods. Scotland isn't done yet, but I hope I've fixed the volume a little.

I suppose t's just new musics replacing default ones, and not a new way to control which faction plays which music when marching?

Yes, and because of that limitation only one faction's mod can be used at a time.

For example, I can't have England and Scotland playing in use at the same time.

Too bad... There's some line in the sound bank where you can tell what music to use, but I couldn't find how it is possible to link a faction to the music.

In order to make sure the faction activated plays the music, I removed the fifer from every unit that had so only the faction-specific band actually played.

But it would be cool if we could figure out how to make faction specific music so that in battle we could have a "battle of the bands" thing going on, but I'm not sure how the AI would handle recruiting bands in the campaign.

Perhaps though, in the sound bank, maybe all reinforcing armies for one faction can be assigned to play one track? There are five or six total that can play, so that fits all major factions. Where can I find the sound bank?

Patch with PFM. Then use Symphony tool by Crux3D to decompile sound bank. Then you can XML and CSV files.
