"A collection of good books, with a soul to it in the shape of a librarian, becomes a vitalized power among the impulses by which the world goes on to improvement." Justin Winsor
It has been a while compadre's and i'm noticing alot of Skyrim love going around. And yeah. I will admit to you young uns. It's a good game. But i'm old and cranky enough to have been around when Morrowind was released. And I still havn't finished it. I just always got sidetracked. But having read an article yesterday on video games collections (namely covering the Nintendo World Championships 1990 and how it's worth a ton of money to own a cartridge) I felt inspired to actually start a personal project I wanted to do. Legitly obtain all of Morrowinds Books, now if I was doing this in privacy of my own cacoon I would cheat and teleport and what not. However due to me needing to crawl my way back in here. I will be not teleporting or cheating much aside from the odd needed god mode cheat. Which you shouldn't see too much. Obviously some books are easier to obtain then others.
Still if theres enough interest I will naturally progress to Oblivion and have a house full of books (and an elder scroll or two) and then I guess I could move onto Skyrim (I do actually own and bought it when it came out to date I have 3.4 hours on it.)
Still this will not be a treasure hunt with a book hunt tacked on the side. It will actually be about me collecting all the books and finding misadventure along the way. I am not the best navigator as anyone who has seen me play minecraft will be aware and with the limited mapping availible it will be a funny adventure to say the least.
Still for now. I bid you all a good afternoon and I will see you promptly.
Love.

"Learning without thought is labor lost; thought without learning is perilous." Confucius
To Mirabelle Ervine;
As requested my entrance to the College of Winterhold is nearing it's completion. This will be the final part of my application. Included I have put forward my treatise and dissertation on the life of Ikoradi Starcarver or as he is more conventionally known. The Collector. I trust this will be enough to secure my place within your most esteemed halls of learning.

One of the chosen of Julianos The Collector is revered amoung certain circles as a devine in his own right. However as research has shown he is merely a mortal. Albeit one with considerbly more experience then anyone alive I know. His talents in the fields of Magery are not a god given gift, nor where they devloped from birth. They are perhaps the end result of what can only be described as the ultimate adventurer. Throughout history his name is etched in several prominant establishments and guilds numbering into the low hundreds at the very minimum. All under the name Ikoradi Starcarver. His mission has never been significance in the slightest in all his papers he mantains he is a collector and only interested in the pursuit and spreading of knowledge and in that his methods are nothing short of altruistic. However that does not forgive the theft of what must be within the high thousands of personal propety.
The first mention of his name however arrived in the third age. 3E 426 a most significant time. Almost a year before the Morrowind crisis occured and rise of the Nerevarine. It is here that the young Ikoradi wrote his first missve apon his quest.
Before the narrative begins proper. Just let your eyes feast on the beauty of my Morrowind. I am special and blessed that I can reply my childhood game in such eye tasty details.

So tasty.

I also have the most needed of mods. The realistic lighting mod. I love it to pieces. You need a lighting source otherwise you will be enjoying the shading of that black pixel across your screen.

Some further details surrounding the character. I went for a Magey Theify build purely to conform with the character design. As mentioned within the opening prolouge he's a powerful mage and a bit of a rogue as well. Coupled with a well chosen birthsign (the lady which gives a hefty 25 point to personality and endurance) gives a well rounded theme and design. Also the firebite spell is buff tings.

As I stood within the confined of the Census Office to where I was registering my eyes could not help but wander. To the right stood a book case. A quick glance over their spines revealed that it was a mere copy of the History of the Empire. A tome long read and memorized by myself. Naturally I had lost my copy thanks to the cursed ship I travelled in on ruining all the precious tomes I had accrued. Still given the difficult in scribing such a long history any copy of the series is worth keeping a hold yet. Yet under the pair of eyes watching my passage even my skills in theft would make this one difficult. So i ignored it. Another copy would come into my possession in due course.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
My patience was rewarded effortlessly, not even a step through the portal and I spied a rare book indeed. A simple guide to the stars themselves. However such a work is worth a hefty if not expensive sum for it's work. If ever I was indeed of money (which I rarely am, money seems to find it's way into my possession through innocent means. It's a curious matter) then perhaps I could sell the copy then return the book to my possession.

Sometimes it really doesn't work...He looks fugly.
It would seem that not even a step out of the Census office and I am being propelled into quests I have very little in carrying out. I had found a ring of some magical value within the premesis. I was a minor healing ring. Yet apparently it belonged to this man. I decided that altruism here would be the best course of action. It paid off. The only trader in town will now be happy to see me. I see it less as a reward as I am sure that no matter the person my charisma along will be sufficent into making people adhere to my thought frame.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
One of the added difficulty to my lighting mod is that depending on the day it will make it harder or easier to sneak. In this case good weather is not a good thing.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Ah Arrille's I have many fond memories of sharing a drink with this man. A true sales man and one of the few people I truley trust in this world. Until that is the erruption. A shame and waste of life. I do miss him.

And thus the mage develops further! The added range makes it a much safer spell then the Firebite.

Everyone remembers the lighthouse. The bastion of wealth and the crazy martial arts lady.

Lighting mod in action. Woa where did she come from?!
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Ever since my arrival in Seyda Need the lighthouse drew my attention and thus I entered. I was instantly beset by a woman whom I was convinced had some primitive form of rabies. In trust I assume she was just trying to defend her propety. I do not regret turning her remains into ash. She thoroughly deserved it. Netherless my exploration of the Lighthouse was further unimpeded.
After fully exploring her meagre possessions I spied another rare piece of work under a bottle of what ever heady spirit she was enjoying prior to trying to murder me. It was another rare book. This back water town speaks good promise from the remainder of my peoples spiritual home. I am anticipating rebuilding my collection in no time.

"On the breaking of dragons..." Ikoradi Starcarver
Writers note. The majority of this update is me performing a pilgrimage of sorts. The first part anyways. I had read an article dissecting the Metaphysics of Morrowind and overall it's a wonderful read. I wholly recommend a read. However to make a brief summary this update covers the breaking of dragons. Which is a loose metaphor for the breaking of time to rewrite it. Or as we know it. Save and reloading. I recommend a read as it is a must have for any lorist.
The Collector has obviously perhaps one of the most unique collections within our Guild and perhaps one which I am personally most envious of are amoung the rarest that anyone has written. I am referring to the lost works of Vvardenfell. Two singular pieces of work that look to explain the very breaking of the Dragon itself. Ikoradi is one of the few people living to not only have owned both works at once. But understands it. I had located the journal of Caius Cosades a Skooma Addict whom mentions Ikoradi by name...
***
So I had a burst of inspiration, perhaps I should begin my errand and then simply dissappear. The definitions of my task seemed simple enough. Head to Balmora and annouce myself to a single person unassisted and unwatched. Then with everything going the way it should. I will be free. Again.
So I set off on perhaps the gloomiest day I could have chosen. The road was understandably empty.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
That was until of course I was ambushed by a gentleman whose idea of trying to seperate me from my ill gotten money was to try and rob me. Needless to say he was not well equipped to deal with someone of my...Ability. The sheer proximity of my magic caused his heart to cease and his body to drop. I have no love of the dead. But his blade was interesting to say the least. A minor fire enchantment. I helped myself. You never know in these lands.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Ah Pelagiad. Retirement hotspot and noob haven galore. Naturally if I was a tool I would have rushed over to the plantation and grabbed me some Dai-Katana Daedric loving. However it somewhat defeats the point. My only found memories of here was the earliest notion of romance within the Elder Scrolls universe. And it was with a Khajiit.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
More general shots showing off my artistic flair. Luverly jubbley.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
After a goodly days travel aside from the interuption from the bandit whom decided he would loose his life by hand I reached the outskirts of Balmora. Naturally it started raining again. I am sick of always being wet. It does nothing for my mood and rather it annoys me to the point of wanting to kill someone else. Still it was a welcome sight for sore eyes and after some bribery on my part quickly located the address of my delivery.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
It turned out to be a dissappointment. Entirely wasteful of my time. My duty turned out to be a drug addicted Skooma rattled idiot whom seemed to think he was a member of the Blades. Some Imperial spy service. I burst out laughing and ignored him whilst I took around his room. Needless to say my amusement was prooven when I moved the Skooma pipe away to find some cheap work on the First Council. Still I helped myself. Payment as it were.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Having finally scraped enough funds I decided to take a look at the Bookseller within Balmora. With writing such a sacred art a good trader is always worth a visit. Whilst Dorisa is no Joshua from Vivec I found her collection worthwhile a secondary visit once I regain some more money.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
A full collection of the Barenziah Biography! A pity the price was so steep. My purse ached for those. Still oppotunity will present itself for the collection to fall into my hands for the first time.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Another full collection of the History of the Empire. My dissappointment must have been visible to everyone within the store. Two full complete collections infront of me and barely enough coin to think about purchasing either one.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
In the end however I settled on picking up a full collection of the Real Barenziah. All five cost 100 septims and I considered it a fair purchase. Dorisa seemed pleased and encouraged me to return to perhaps look into a trade of some of my rarer works. I think I shall take her up on her invitation. She seems homely enough.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
I also took the time to join my fellow scholars in the Mages guild. One must co-ordinate his research.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
The joy of having to backdown from a merchant to discover a third complete collection. This time with no one watching and being the wiser I discreetly placed them into my bag and felt slightly more complete. Finally I have been re-united with my History of the Empire. Even if it's a cheap knock off copy it's the principle that counts.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
As my curiousity continued I spied two further books. Considerably rarer then the mere History of the Empire itself. No these were written by the Guild and I took mytime to leaf through them before my caught a true work of art.
The fourth book, unmentioned is relevant to a mod and not included on my reading list.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
I had only heard rumours of this books existance and yet here within my slightly shaking hands I am the potential new owner of Where were you when the Dragon Broke. However whilst this is a rare piece of art. It is only half the collection. If one resides here then perhaps the second supplementary copy is near enough that I can add it to my collection.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
It cost me almost everything I had in the world. And it's still raining. After gently filching the book and inquiring as to the supplemental rebuttual I was pointed in the direction of Gnisis. This hell hole is not worth the money it cost to drag my sodden corspe up this far north. Two Silt Striders. I can barely manage one. My lower half feels like it's been dragged through Oblivion. Still I have details on where to find the second part to my newest acquisition. Arvs-Drelen; a Velothi Tower. Dangerous locations but with danger comes great reward.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Naturally I got lost. However my inability to keep my fingers to themselves have yielded some rare and wonderful finds. Raw Ebony is always worth money to the right person. Especially so much of it. I think Dorisa will be recieving a visit from me shortly.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
I was set apon by two undead champions in the dark. With blade drawn I lept into the fray...
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
However a magical construct against magical prowess will always have the same conclusion.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
A tame Daedroth! I was almost terrorized with fear until I realized that I wasn't dead yet. Whom ever lives here must be powerful enough to tame the beast. I did check if it was summoned with a dispel, nothing. It is indeed real.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
At the peak of the tower lies the owner. A bookshelf and naturally my urge to steal rise significantly.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
A gold plated Vampires of Vvardenfell. Not the prized second edition to which many people would pay a good deal of money for. I did not want to risk upsetting my host for such a common fare.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
The fourth part of the 2920 journal. A rare find. I naturally helped myself. Such a book will not be found again.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
And finally I had to part with what little gold and magical goods I had left to purchase this. But I am finally the full owner of the Dragon Break Collection. Perhaps I shall write to Droom himself and explain that I am far beyond what ever he theorized.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Next time. The quest for the 36 lessons of Vivec. In order...
