It's so fantastic to see units done in a grim reality... that's why I hate to even voice a critique: just a short zoom away from the ground will leave everything looking vaguely grey-brown. Some of the units need a little color. Muted, filthy color, but color nonetheless!

I agree, it is really refreshing to see, unlike in vanilla, units that aren't adorned in an array of bright colours, but just look realistic.

As for the issue of the quality going away when zoomed out, well that can't be helped, but it doesn't really matter, when you zoom away it's simply to get a better view of the battlefield and order your units, once you've done that just zoom back in and enjoy the battle.

Yes and large flags will help with identifying, but just looking at England vs Scotland, there would be no telling who's who on the battlefield. Yes, that's how it would have been in many cases in real life for those ready to point that out but I submit:

    1. it's a game not real life and being able to ID your own troops is a good thing!

1.1. In reality, only the poor masses would be unidentifiable, any man-at-arms or sergeant on up would have some more easily recognizable aspect to their clothing and armor. Many would even have the heraldry of their lord, big or small, on their person and it would in real life, be easy to see and know who that is.

1.2. Any knights of any social status at all would have a highly identifiable personal banner, heraldry, emblazoned shield and/or surcoat or all of the above and they wouldn't be desaturated of all their color.

Love seeing these, just looks like it's gone a touch too far with a sepia overlay, know what I mean? or some final accoutrements have yet to be added.

There's a button on the BUI that instantly highlights your troops and the enemy's.

Used a sepia overlay for the preview screens to make them more "gritty" (looks like I went a touch too far): in-game is definitely more colorful, although DEFINITELY less colorful, and more realistic, than vanilla.

Here's what the early dismounted knights look like without any "post-processing":

    Aha!!

Now, personally I might wish for a burgundy sash here, or a blue surcoat there -- but those are so respectable looking, I probably would never have thought of all the stuff I'd already said, just seeing those for the first time.

OMG..this units are absolutly OUTSTANDING, best i ever saw in medeival TW mods.
They look so realistic, so well done in this "dark used"style, something that most other mods dont make right.
When i firts saw this previews i was fascinated looking at this pictures i get a smile on my face ,thinking..this is it!!
This and the RTW"Rise of Nations.prelude to war" units peviews of haeressiarch(sadly seems he quits to continue to work on the mod, so for me mod is dead) , are the

    Masterpieces of TW unit modding!!

Btw as a suggestion you guys can use 2 texture variants for the king according to this age instead of just using an old guy even if the king is 18 years old. Just use this script on the battle model:

    Code:
    monitor_event BecomesFactionLeader FactionType byzantium
    	and CharacterAge > 75
    	change_battle_model byzantium leader Byzantium_oldking
    	end_monitor

    monitor_event BecomesFactionLeader FactionType byzantium
    	and CharacterAge < 75
    	change_battle_model byzantium leader Byzantium_youngking
    	end_monitor
Use the same mesh but different BMDB entry having different skins.

Anyways keep up the good work.
