You can still have his friendship
If we go by the one out of which I get the most satisfaction it will have to be Sengoku.
I love CK2 but I simply never have enough time to properly care about all the characters, it just seems to demand (and reward) time and attention which I cannot give.
Sengoku has enough of a story to engage (like when my inheritance finally came up after a decade on tenterhooks and I was catapulted from kokujin of Suwa to quadruple daimyo in Chugoku) but is simple enough for casual sess too.
CK2 is totally awesome if you have enough time on your hands.

CK2. I absolutely love it. They just need to fix a few things and add a child limit so my stupid wife doesn't have 15 freaking children.
I've played HOI3, EUIII, EUR, Vicky I & II and CKII.
I really like EUIII. It was the first Paradox game I've played. A good introduction to paradox games. Not very hard to get and quite fast-paced. I really liked it and still do.
In the same spot, I also nominate CKII. Even though I had good and long introduction to Paradox games, it was still pretty hard to get, but more in a challenging than frustrating sort of game. The opportunities are endless in this game, and it's really a challenge. Also, the more I play this game the more I realize how much thought was put into it.
Then we have Vicky II. It was kinda like EUIII, but it just didn't captivate me that much, though I still had great fun playing it.
EUR and Vikcy I were kinda nice, but not that remarkable. I know most of you don't like EUR, but I still kinda had fun playing it.
And I like HOI3 the least. I don't really understand why most Paradox fans like it, I found frustrating and too full of micromanagement. I personally found it frustrating and was often annoyed by the various mechanisms of the game, even though I love the historical period it's set in.

240 hours on Steam and probably twice as much off Steam (on my laptop).
#2 Darkest Hour because it has just the right level of simplicity mixed with complexity. There's no better feeling than when your minor nation launches it's first Dreadnought and no worse feeling than realising it's 1946 when you do it
However, after kitting it out with modern torpedoes, improved hulls, AA guns, modern seaplanes and radar and seeing it sink a brand new US Battleship... you're back on top of the world.
#3 Victoria 2 because it has the best colonial system and economic system of all the Paradox games and i LOVE the time period. I do however hope that they further improve it, including a proper leadership system with family tree's etc like in EUIII. It's not like people stopped having the chance to inherit other thrones and stopped marrying into other royal families the minute it turned 1836.
EU3 is probably my favourite, with HOI2 behind it. I don't like HOI3 because it took away the type of Army management the HOI games always had and make it feel less like I'm commanding the armies and rather im saying "yeah go attack them and dont lose" And it may sound obnoxious but I hate how you can't really annex and theres always the occupation lines over the enemy territories unlike in HOI2
You look great today.
After playing CK2 I just find EU3 slow as hell. Anyone else having this issue?
Maybe I should go back to HttT or something. What's the difference from DW anyway besides grafics?
HOI2 with the Historical Stony Road to War Mod got the most play out of me, literally years worth.
Actually HOI1 with Stony Road Pro got tons of play too.
HOI1 still has the best tech tree by far. Why wouldn't I want to put 46cm naval guns on a 1936 battleship?
Victoria 2 and HOI3.
What makes a real American? A cowboy hat? Enjoying a fine T-bone
steak? Going to a baseball game? Shooting a gun? Maybe it’s the freedom to go
into a poor country and tell them how to do things?! Heh! Those are all great
qualities! But one thing that makes a true patriot is the ability to choose
an American car! When you buy an import you take a hot meal off a hard
working American’s table. There, there! This poor girl is going
to starve to death, just because you bought a cheaper, more efficient
Maibazu. Without gross symbols of excess, what will Americans have to look up
to? Our great industries is a threaten! Cars, pornography, armaments! And
they need your help! So the next time you buy a car, a piece of adult
literature or a missile defense system! Make sure you do the American thing!
Must say I didn´t like Vicky 2. Funny but once I´ve noticed Vicky 1 with Revolutions came with Vicky 2 for free, I played it as much as the new game (however I played Vicky 1 with the VIP mod, which is superb).
Problem is similar to CK 2, but worse - lack of events means all nations feel similar, only thing that changes is the size of the blob and how many accepted POPs you have.
EUIII - Most expansive game, always someting to do
Vicky II - Solid Game, definately the best when it comes to colonialism and imperialism
Darkest Hour - Takes everything great about the HOI series and doubles it.
Vicky I - Good predecessor, definately the best of the earlier Paradox game
Also can someone explain briefly the difference between HOI3 and HOI2, and specifically why some players prefer HOI2? Thanks!
Really?? This is what people know about parodox??
IMO there is only 1 BEST parodox game... That is not mentioned yet and surpasses all games i have ever played in the way of combat..
Its not an rts its a fps (First person Swordfighter)
Mount and Blade:Warbands
Thats right mount and blade.. Where you get to actually see your army of 100 archers mow down the enemy's foot infantry and run into battle on your horse with your lance and start picking off the strong targets.. This is imo the best game even with out the mods or online.. then you get into modding it and it becomes 10x better and you get online and mod it and it becomes 15x better.. if you have not tried it. its the game that made me love paradox so much..
It's just that people are talking about the strategy games made by Paradox in this thread, based upon the one game the OP mentioned. M&B is a Taleworlds game. So you're off-topic, Hobo.
And about that one single post you have... Did you seriously register here just for replying to this thread?
Anyway, welcome to TWC.
