OH PUHLEASE! The praying may be "fun", but it's not nearly as great as "praying" with Melisandre. Plus, I don't think praying with them creates assassin shadow babies.

Not to mention everyone "prays" with the Lys god of love whereas only a select few "pray" with Melisandre.
"I, Pinkie Pie, declare that these treats are fit for a king, or a queen, or a princess!"
"Me? Ruin? I'm not the ruiner, I'm the ruinee! Or is it ruinness? Ruinette?"
"She's ahead of the litter all right. The pick of the litter. The cat's pajamas. Oh wait. Why would Applejack take some poor kitty's pj's? That's not very sporting of her."
"More balloons! No, that's too many balloons. More candy! No, less candy. Ooh! I know! Streamers!"

Having sex with Melisandre was not without cost. It "drained" Stannis somehow was what Melisandre was saying. Its implied he is losing years of his life every time...so no thats not really worth it to me.

I think your life is only taken if you create Shadow Babies.

    Also,
Just because most of the priests we've seen in the book who are followers of the Red God can use magic doesn't mean he exist. It only means they know magic. What this magical source comes from we don't know but I doubt R'hllor exists. The magic is simply inherited from the teachings of Asshai, and not to be taken as a proof of this god's existence. Now worship the Kraken fools!

Has anybody on the forums theorized about the Lord of Light and the Old Gods coming in violent contact near the end of the entire storyline? The title "A song of Ice and Fire" and the geographical locations of where these two religions/faiths/ways of life lead me to believe that something insane will go on between the people north of Westeros and the followers of the Lords of Light south of Essos (including Dany and her followers, even though they aren't followers of R'hllor)?

Anyone feel something like this is brewing in GRRM's head?

Indeed, magic comes from dragons and even the pyromancers have gained more power.

No Black Goat of Qohor? For shame TS

I'd go with the drowned God as the worship is so ingrained in the Ironborn culture and it goes hand in hand with their interests and daily lives.

    Interesting.

The Seven is basically a polytheistic medieval Roman Catholicism, and as a good protestant (think Mr Blackitt from The Meaning of Life) I just can't follow them. Plus, I have yet to see a single ounce of "power" exhibited by anything to do with the Seven. Septon Meribald is one of the most badass characters in the entire book though.

R'hllor definately has power. The power of prophecy, the power to disguise appearances, the power to heal, the power to bring back to life, the power to kill. That power comes at the cost of burning people alive and human sacrifice. Thanks, but no thanks.

The Others - we don't know enough about them. They are set up as the baddies, and whilst they're certainly not a bunch of altruistic guardian angels, I wonder if the Great Other and the Red God aren't good vs evil (as George, and Mel would have us believe), but rather a couple of gods having a domestic with humans as the pawns.

The Drowned God - I call BS on the drowned god. He doesn't exist, its CPR that brings the Drowned Men back to life, not the power of a sea god. Plus I'm not down with their whole rape/pillage/murder way of life.

    Mother Rhoyne - who?

Many Faced God - Faceless Men are cool and all, but euthanasia and murder as the basis of your religion?

The Old Gods - they're the ones for me. Cleary they have power - the ability to see past, present and future through the WeirWoodWeb. Magical protection against The Others/wights. Question is, where is the line between a powerful seer, and a god?
Always keep your foes confused. If they are never certain who you are or what you want, they cannot know what you are like to do next. Sometimes the best way to baffle them is to make moves that have no purpose, or even seem to work against you - Littlefinger

The Mother Rhoyne is the godess of the Rhoynish. The Rhoynish once lived upon the River Rhoyne only to be crushed under the rising power of the Valyrian Freehold. The survivors fled with Nymeria to Dorne where she married into the Martell family and helped them take control over all of Dorne.

I do not know much about the religion but information can be found here.

Still haven't read enough from books to get past series, but from the end of first season with dragons back in existence, I think that the title refers to a showdown between Others (Ice) and dragons (Fire). We'll see in the end.

R'hollor, so I could regulate my irritating body temperature. Too hot? You won't sweat. Too cold? Forget about it.

It is a sweet death for those who seek it. I find this religion to be one of the most just and peaceful. The Old Gods have no power beyond their roots...

The old gods for the reasons Antionusz gave, quickly followed by R'hollor because of the badassery. I find the drowned god laughable at best. However, the High Sparrow has restored the Faith Militant, the Poor Fellows and Warrior's Sons will soon be battling Stannis and the followers of Rh'llor. The seven won't be going down without a fight.

Personally I am of the opinion, to quote, that 'any sufficiently analyzed magic is indistinguishable from science'. I say we should study the powers of these so call gods, and take their power for our own.

What would that make me, I wonder? Not a worshiper, but not an atheist either. A heretic maybe?
