    Default Essos Map-project

Fellow Westeros Total War fans! I have been working on a base map of Essos this week and would like to share the half done result. First of I should add that this is my first mapping-project and that my art skills are very limited! I got the inspiration from BLIPP99's basemap for the western part of Essos you can find it at the following link

    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=514291

The rest I have picked up in different tutorials by Gigantus who seems like the guru of TW-mapping, I strongly recommend you to read them if you are interested in mapping! I kind of worked myself in to a corner with this project when it comes to making it into a campaign with all the writing and stuffs, .bin files and all that made me very confused and frustrated so i'm gonna put it out here as a resource for like minded people who has time, skill and such. Also I'm looking forward to thoughts and comments about it!

I made a new map based on the GRRM certified one that sam_bob posted featuring Qarth and Ibben among other things, all the blur edges are removed but I hit a wall again when I started with ground types and such... You are welcome to comment or edit as you like Also I ran into a coupe of disturbing crashes when I tried to launch it, but I am curtain that has something to do with the writing

    Cheers!

why did you blur the edges of one color to the next? in mapping you have very specific color codes, if the code is changed in the slightest by even 1 point you will receive a bug...your entire map of all categories are like that...was that intentional or not? thanks anyway, its a start at least if I ever do map some parts of essos I'll use this as base...but there is a lot of correcting i got to do though....

    embarrassing

Im just getting to know the GIMP so thats why, to be clear it was not intentional Also before someone points it out there is two rivers missing in the eastern part of the map!

Thank you! Essos could be a awesome mod but it feels like we lack necessary information when it comes to creating factions, family tree's, generals and such. For example: Who really knows anything about Norvos or Lorath? In my opinion the prefect campaign begins in the middle of ADWD with Meereen as a single Targaryen region surrounded by Ghiscari slavers, wise masters, backstabbing sons of the harpy and much more! Also a emerging Ironborn fleet and Tyrion with the second sons

I have to admit that one look's way better! I thought Ibben was far away, with the official one it would be possible to ad it to the game! Also the river that goes thru the Dothraki sea adds a new strategic dimension to the campaign!

    Korpskog

compliments on your newly started modding quest

one small note..maybe it would be better if those 4 central "blue" regions were not divided in a square way ..it feels a bit unnatural to have em divided in such a "geometrical" way (like texas )

Thank you Noobas, I will pull essos of myself and become the terminator of modding.....not
Those Dothraki regions were the last thing I did, really i felt like one simply would not do and my imagination were running low.

Certified in the sense that it's based on the GRRM-approved HBO map, although he has changed some stuff along the eastern edge of it for the forthcoming map book.

what the hell is sothoros? never heard that mentioned
Sothoryos is the southern continent. It's on the maps in ASoS and ADWD, south of Valyria and Slaver's Bay. It's mentioned a few times in ADWD as a source of plagues and slaves. It's basically GRRM's take on Africa.

not to nitpick, but they named the ruined city of Valyria: "Volantis," for some reason.

    extract the contents into world/map/base
replace conflicting files, delete map.rwm file when you done.
run the game and hope it works.
