Found a nice list of Georgia battle Flags to chose from.

List of country flags and Naval Jacks, but these are pretty easy to find.

    @Slurricane thanks, it works.
@Titan, the first link doesn't work, but the other ones are good. The last one talks about battle flags. Are we going to have the units carry the actual Union or Confederate flags or have them hold those battle flags?

edit: Why is the always highlighted in red?? It's driving me crazy!!

I been looking at the data files, and the only way to get two flags in is if we replaced either the drummer or officer with a flag, or maybe the flag guy pole bigger and put two flags, there does not seem to be an option to place mutli flag bearers at this time.

So in the mean time we should use the two most common flags, and hopefully CA will add this feature or if it is already added it will be found.

Our top goalds right now need to be Military tech tree design, forces design, and region maps that contain the city locations we should use, I figure one capital and 6-10 cities for depth depending on size of region it may be less for things like rhode island. We also will need to come up with a new enlightment tree and the other tree as well, but those will need less work and just different tool tips for the most part, the same will go for buildings new names, and we need unit lists for each side.

That is sorta alot but those are the top goals, we can worry about flags when we find out more.

Edit I had an idea about flags, not sure if it will pan out, but if we made the overhead flag the faction falg, then we could at least use different flags for the units, and we could even create a unit that would say come from georgia, make it only recruitable in georgia and give it the geogria flag, that might just work.

Lose the drummer. Officer stays. The drummer boys were usually around 9-14. Everyone shoots at the colorguard, out of necessity (any black powder shooters can understand this). It wouldn't surprise me at all if units left them behind.

Well, some people remove the overhead flags. I know I do. No, I say lose the drummer boy.

BUT, if it had to be done, I suppose we could do it that way. Or the two flags to one bearer deal. You could go State and Battleflag same one.

Ok, I'm gonna start with research. I'll get a list of important cities, divided by faction (Union or Confederacy) and then by state. I'll attempt making regions.

Here is a preliminary list of regions, divided by state (capital in brackets). Anyone can tell me if they do not agree with them so I can edit them if they believe they are incorrect or if they want any changes. There are 75 regions total; 44 controlled by the Union and 31 controlled by the Confederacy (that's not because I'm unfair, its just historical fact that the Union was larger).

edit: I have also edited state maps to show these regions, I'll upload them later.

I want to put to a vote which flag we should use for the Confederacy. The battle flag is what is used in many games and mods, but the Confederacy used the "Stars & Bars" in the beginning (actually I think the used the "Bonnie Blue Flag" unofficially for a while as well?):

The flag was used from May 1861 (with varying number of stars) to May 1863, when it was replaced with:

The Stainless Banner, it was used from May 1863 to March 1865. If I remember correctly, they started to use this flag because the "Stars & Bars" looked too similar to the Union flag in battle, creating confusion.
The last flag to be used was:

"The Blood Stained Banner", used from March 1865 to the end of the war.

If we can only use one flag, I would vote for the "Stars & Bars". However if you can change flags during the campaign, I would vote we use all three
I'm not in favor of using just the Confederate battle flag as the official flag for the Confederacy.

This is the AoR I have been suggesting all along
I really would like to implement this. If the state flag can't be implement, atleast I want to know I recruit virginian infantry in Virginia etc. Maybe we should make the units something like this:

    Virginia Regulars (Line Infantry).

    or

    Infantry Regiment (Virginia)

What would be cool would be to have a script that could number each regiment. So we could have say:

    1st Virginia Regulars
    22nd South Carolina Irregulars

    or maybe:

    Richmond Militia

Then we don't need to "clone" any units. We should just make a script that checks in which region a unit is recruited and give it a number from 1 -> n for large n's and where n is not a number already used for that state. However, we also might want to make each states infantry different in some way, I don't know whats the best solution. I hope the script is doable though!

EDIT: My point is, then we only need to make one unit of regulars, irregulars and militia and vary them using this kind of script to make it seems like they belong to each state
