[ACW] Feedback & Discussion Thread

Hey lads!

I greatly appreciate the mod.

My first impressions:

- First title screen could use a litte more color and less smoke =)
- Music is awesome and very well chosen.
- Played as CS. Income seems overpowered.
- France declared war. I entered on the side of United Provinces to whom I was allied. They broke it anyways. Nothing ever happend.
- Mexico declared war. Nothing happens.
- Everything takes one turn to build.
- I conquered Mexico City, immediate CTD
- Raider Cavalry can only melee

Ahh right!
Well just to be sure I'm uninstalling empire and redownloading it since I've had DMUC and The American Revolution in previously! I know I must have somehow missed a file or two!
Sorry didn't wanna seem moany there!

EDIT: Yeah the whole one turn thing happened with me too!
And sorry I ment to say will the units be AOR specific?
And what happened to railroads?!

I'm used the have the same "ACW nor Empire file" issue. I just used the "check files" feature to let the launcher know nothing was wrong.

Second, my take on the game so far: I haven't been able to play a full battle yet but I've noticed that half of the units featured in the last version have been removed (State Militia, Sharpshooters etc), is that for balancing or something? Also, I'm noticing a lack of "text" in certain areas, for example, the names of the factions aren't even there (when the mouse is hovering over units and setting up custom battles). Also, I remember that all vanilla map names were just made into dashes to aid in finding the ACW maps quicker. I'm just trying to make sure my version of the game is normal...

EDIT: Also noticed some models haven't been changed like the Union Zouaves. I didn't see it on the patch list to update models so that's why I'm asking.

I don't know if you need to, but i always have UAC turned off when i install mods.

you want to save that file to pc not open it.

The install was fresh.

I clicked Extract Here.

I don't know what UAC is.

And I know that, I saved it to my PC.

I'm not new to mods, I've installed them and extracted files countless times

This is the error message I get when I attempt to extract it with 7zip.

I'm unable to extract the file. It says that the file is broken when I'm using 7zip, I don't know what to do now.

Okay you will need to talk to the team on that one, and thanks for the pic. I'm just helping the team out, try using Winrar, and if not then i'm out of options.

For UAC(User Account Control) you go to your start button on desktop , punch in the search panel uac and it will come up, disable it, it sometimes conflicts with mod installs, also can depend on some virus programs. I use Avast anti virus

Hi Comrade,
Ifirst had the "cannot extract"-issue as well, but I thoroughly looked at the name of the file and what I downloaded, had the name:

'ACW3Beta_setup.zip'

I Looked again, and then I removed the ' thingis at beginning and end of the filename, so that it was named:

ACW3Beta_setup.zip

afterwards.

And then I could unzip it. Now I'm in turn four...

AND SHOULD GO TO SLEEP!!!

That's pretty much the same thing Comrade is going through, i think it might be because you don't have uac turned off, or maybe certain anti virus programs conflict i could be wrong though, but it's worth a try.

Also maybe try using Winrar to extract don't double click, right click the file and select extract here under rar title.

Yeah I heard some people are getting different file titles, that is strange.

Warboy, the file doesn't have quotes.

Mine had a single ' on each side, try putting them in and trying that, but now i'm really starting to sound desperate

Oh, and I forgot, this also comes up when I attempt to extract. It says the folder is empty.

yeah you don't want to compress it, just simply extract, but if that's not working then your going to have to wait for shokh, Minas or Primergy.

I'm going to bed now, everyone who can't get the install to work, try my methods if still nothing ask team leaders, but don't pm them, i'm sure they will all be around in a few hours to answer any questions.

Hey there chernov! I'm no guru but is it possible you got a corrupt version downloaded? it happens..or maybe the file cut out early? Mine did and im having to download again..thats 4 hours ive been at it now...24 percent and counting..grrr!! At least if you know others have it working you'll resolve the issue soon..done forget its a beta guys!
