Dorne has some similarities with Italy.

Yes, yes, everything looks like something. The point is not that the South of Westeros sort of matches up with Ireland- its that it is Ireland. Its not a few similarities that someone noticed; GRRM directly based the shape of the South off of the shape of an inverted Ireland and was clearly looking at a map of Ireland when designing it.
