About half of Westeros is almost exactly Ireland. There, we can all agree with that. And Scotland may have been the inspiration for the North. There will be no further arguments. It is known.

Dorne has some similarities with Italy.
"I, Pinkie Pie, declare that these treats are fit for a king, or a queen, or a princess!"
"Me? Ruin? I'm not the ruiner, I'm the ruinee! Or is it ruinness? Ruinette?"
"She's ahead of the litter all right. The pick of the litter. The cat's pajamas. Oh wait. Why would Applejack take some poor kitty's pj's? That's not very sporting of her."
"More balloons! No, that's too many balloons. More candy! No, less candy. Ooh! I know! Streamers!"
"Oh my gosh. Hold on to your hooves – I am just about to be brilliant!"

Also, if you flip England horizontally, Cornwall, Wales and the exceedingly mountainous Lake District line up well against Dorne, the Stormlands and the Vale respectively .

Yes, yes, everything looks like something. The point is not that the South of Westeros sort of matches up with Ireland- its that it is Ireland. Its not a few similarities that someone noticed; GRRM directly based the shape of the South off of the shape of an inverted Ireland and was clearly looking at a map of Ireland when designing it.

Either that or Ireland is based off of an upside down part of Westeros.

Alright enough, this thread is being used for meaningless squabble.
