I am trying to get to grips how to do some skinning. So I grabbed myself a model that I had as OBJ floating around, imported it into Milkshape, added comments for the model and for the group. Assigned the group to a material and then made a UV map with GOAT.
And there must be something I don't know - because the mapping isn't from the surface but the whole model. Not sure how to describe it, but I am attaching the model view in Milkshape and the UV map.

I am attaching the model as well, just in case someone can't suppress the urge to have a look at noob work. I haven't found anything in the tuts how to do the setting to get a 'flat' UV map. It's probably so basic that everyone takes it for granted.
