Thread: [2012] TWC Modding Awards (Please Read)

  1. #1

Default [2012] TWC Modding Awards (Please Read)

    Index:

    General Setup
    • Mods: This year there will be 3 broad categories in mods on the bases of new, updated and old mods. New ones released in 2012 are allowed to participate and compete in the same categories with the old\updated ones while they are not allowed to compete in specific categories meant for new mods only. We think this would give a fair chance to the newly released mods, as our prime focus is to reward and recognize new work. Not simply go by popularity of old opus mods every year.

This year old mods (released before 2012) which haven't been updated or modified in 2012 at all will be allowed to compete in only a single category, which is "All-time favourite mod". Any mod team or player can nominate their mod in this category. These mods aren't eligible for any other nomination. Beside this any other old mod, which have been heavily modified or updated in individual fields of modding (something MAC* would review) in 2012, can participate in the general categories but they can't compete in new ones.

It's because we know that many mods keep expanding and improving considerably even after their release date. Some even come up with an entire new campaign or overhaul, so, disqualifying them just on the basis of release date just seem unwise. Lastly don't forget that old mods, from 2011, who weren't able to nominate themselves due to any reason are also eligible in the general categories.
    • Modders: Since modders can associate themselves with more than one mod or modding areas we will consider their entire work done by them in the year 2012 only. If a modder thinks that he has done substantial modding work in 2012, in one or more mods, then he can nominate himself in that particular category. His previous work won't be included at all with an exception of substantial improvement over them. Again this would be reviewed and checked by MAC. For example if someone released a modding tool in 2011 and now in 2012 has updated it with new functions which increases its value is eligible but not when he only updates and patches his old tool in 2012. So obviously things like patches and minor updates for an old mod released prior to 2012 won't be considered as a valid entry.

MAC may also personally contact modders to provide a detailed log on their mods (Or the change logs of them, if, that's the base for entering this competition). This time during polls, in poll threads all the entries from a single category will have a comparison chart where players or general membership can compare them and then decide which is best in their opinion. So providing mod logs is necessary.

We will have 2 phases. First will be the nomination phase and when all the nominations are gathered & reviewed then we will have second and last phase for voting the best among them.

    Awards, positions & complimentary rewards
This year's modding winners would get these awards:
After the polls are concluded we would pick top 3 winners from each category, if there are more than 3 nominees in a particular category. 1st, 2nd & 3rd. Awards and any complimentary rewards\items they would get:

Mods which wins top 3 positions:
    • One sticky in their respective hosted mod forum or an announcement in their mod thread showing their mod in the showcase and addition in the TWC hall of fame.
    • Images displaying mod team's award would be given to every member of the mod team and they can then choose it to display it in their signatures. Any modification regarding this or specific requests from the winning teams can also be discussed if they want something custom of their own.
    • Mod team who made a new mod and wins a first position in its category would be interviewed by eagle standard (Our official TW Publication). This would shed some more light on the mod itself among the general membership and would give some exposure to our new modders within TWC.

Modders which win top 3 positions:
    • Modders on 1st, 2nd & 3rd positions from every category will get +150, +75 & +40 rep points respectively.
    • The top modder from the polls would get a medal in his user profile, just like always. As for 2nd and 3rd position winners, they will get the same medal indicating their positions in an image, which they can use in their signatures. Any customization they want can be discussed and processed accordingly.
    • 1st rank winner will be interviewed by Content staff. Perhaps a new modder might get noticed by a citizen and gets sponsored for citizenship as well?

    Procedure
Below is the nomination procedure in detail. How one can nominate himself or someone else for his\her mod.
    Attention modders!

    • All entries will have to be made or confirmed by the modder in question or a team representative. Entries fall under the TWC Terms of Service concerning claims to ownership of work.
    • How it will work is that the modder himself has to step forward and nominate himself if he thinks he's worthy enough for it. His submission, which will be done in the Nominations sub-forum, will be private and thus only visible to MAC and only himself.

Explanation of categories & eligibility criteria
    RTW

    Mods:
    • All-time favourite: Well as the name suggests, in this category you guys (whether a modder or a player) have to nominate the best mod you have seen so far on TWC on this platform, that is, RTW. Every mod is eligible to enter this category, even the ones that weren't released or updated in 2012. The winner from this category would show who's the boss and what the community really adore, thereby, setting an inspiring example of mod making for future modders.
    • Battle gameplay: In this category one has to nominate a mod that enhances the battle gameplay on the battlefield. How the AI tactically packs a punch after modifying its BAI. Eligibility: For only new mods that were released in 2012 or a mod that updated this aspect of the game in 2012.
    • Strategic gameplay: In this category one has to nominate a mod that enhances the strategic gameplay. How the AI behaves by modification of its CAI. Eligibility: For only new mods that were released in 2012 or a mod that updated this aspect of the game in 2012.

    • 2D Art & Design: This category deals with 2 dimensional visual elements of the game. Like faction icons, user interface of main menu\strat map, units cards etc. Eligibility: For only new mods that were released in 2012 or a mod that updated this aspect of the game in 2012.

Eligibility: For only new mods that were released in 2012 or a mod that updated this aspect of the game in 2012. A mod that even tweaks existing hundreds of SFX in-game to give a different feel is also eligible.
    • Historical or lore friendly: If your mod is a treat for players who love historical accuracy then your mod qualifies in this category. And what's lore friendly? It means whether your mod or extension to a particular existing mod fits the theme logically or not. A mod putting an element based on a different theme wouldn't count as lore friendly; like putting a character from assassin's creed into Third age mod; it would fit in a mod based on crusades though. Eligibility: For only new mods that were released in 2012 or a mod that updated this aspect of the game in 2012.
    • Sub-mod or Addons: A sub-mod or an Addon means a mod that is added to an existing mod in order to further expand it in a particular area on a minor level. • New mod: Did you release a new major mod in 2012? Then your mod qualifies in this category where it will compete with other new major mods. Eligibility: For only new major mods that were released in 2012 are eligible in it not any old or updated mod.
    • New sub-mod: Did you release a new sub-mod in 2012? Then your mod qualifies in this category where it will compete with other new sub-mods. Eligibility: For only new sub-mods that were released in 2012 are eligible in it not any old or updated sub-mods.
