Thread: End Turn Takes forever!

    Default End Turn Takes forever!

I use to play TATW about a year ago, it ran very smooth, no problem or hitches, my computer specs were my:
    E8400 3.0 Core 2 duo
    nvidia gts 250
    4gb ram
    700gb hdd
windows xp.... Now i decided im tired of shogun 2 and skyrim, both running great, but just bored of them and waiting for diablo 3 to release, i looked back at TATW and saw they have made many improvement and patches, decided to give it a try. Now everything is running smoothly except two things that are hindering my gameplay and makes me not want to play.
The only one i wish to fix is my END TURN lag. everytime i end my turn, it takes about 1.20 minutes all the way to 2 minutes till it gets back to me, i know, because i stop watched it. I have tried lowering all graphic settings, nothing changes. have tried uninstalling completely and reinstalling, no fix. tried different fixed for changing time zone for windows 7, all that hooplaa. I cannot figure it out, i have changes to my computer however, since it use to run perfectly. these are the changes.

    Same Processor
    Nvidia EVGA GTX 550 TI
    same ram
    same hdd
Windows 7... And of course the new 3.1 patch to TATW, i can run the battles and everything fine on ultra settings, there is no difference in end turn time if im on the lowest resolution and settings, compared to highest resolution and settings, only thing that has changed is the patch, my GPU to more powerful, and windows 7. Please, give me a hint to where i should go from here, or ask any question, looking for any help, see other people experiance this problem, no real help has been given.
P.S, yes, show Ai moves is turned off, and i do press spacebar.
    Please help, thanks

The main culprit for slow end turn times is scripts. Do you have any submods? Many large submods add lots of extra scripts that can really slow down the turn time. If you have extra submods you might just want to go back to vanilla TATW 3.1. If you don't have any submods you can still try deleting some scripts.

Take a look at the campaign script file and see what you can live without.

    Medieval II Total War\mods\Third_Age_3\data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign\campaign_script

When you find a script you'd like to delete highlight the lines and delete it. For example, if you'd like to delete the garrison script find the line that says:

    ;#################### Garrison Script Version 3.0 #####################
Remove everything below it until you find the line that says
    ;########################### MONEY SCRIPT ##############################

I will give that a try and reply very quickly, just wondering which ones to delete that will have the greatest effect, or how many i would need to delete.. thats the problem, but will definitly give this a try.

You might try deleting Leader Death Messages, Lost Capitals Message, and Regional videos first as these will have no real impact on gameplay. If you want even shorter end turn times you might try deleting Capital Change Cost, Last Stand, Help weakened factions, and Garrison Script.
