There is one account from later in the Hundred Years War, that the town was besieged by the English in 1369, and that, when they seemed to be on the point of departure having abandoned the siege, one resident decided to show her backside to the English to demonstrate her contempt for them.

Unfortunately, this insult had completely the reverse effect and the English surged into the town, destroying ramparts and town and putting the population to the sword. The moral drawn from this story locally is: "Ladies, before showing your backside, check carefully that it is not to the English."

Swiss, living in the Emmental region and produce there the famous eponymous cheese, spoke about his rather unusual experiment. Not long ago, the local cheese-makers decided to check, can the music affect the quality of their product, and is heavily engaged in experiments in this direction.

Since September this year, Bit Wampfler and his colleagues every day include in my dairy of music, from classics to Groovy rock. Wampfler convinced that temperature, humidity and composition of the cheese are not the only factors that affect its maturation.

Despite the fact that the idea of the Swiss sounds very strange and even fantastic, they managed to attract to the experiment, experts from the University of arts in Bern. Initially, the experts expressed undisguised skepticism, but then studied under laboratory conditions chemical composition of cheese before and after “listening” to their music. It turned out that there is a difference, and essential.

This is not surprising, since scientists have long been proven that music is able to influence, for example, on the development of plants and the composition of the water. Why in this case do not impact on the palatability of cheese, also consisting of up to 40 percent of the water, and besides being one of the most refined and exacting in the preparation of the products?

A real challenge for the cheesemaker will be on 15 March next year, when they are lucky their products at the national Swiss fair of cheese. That’s where the authoritative judges will determine how “chicken-lover” differs from their “brothers” who had never heard music.

If the “music” cheese really will be tastier, more refined and more aromatic than usual, the new technology will certainly wish to learn from other Swiss manufacturers of cheese.
