This only happens when they are normally firing. When you have them fire grape/canister shot, it does not show any effects.
Happens on any GFX settings and confirmed by multiple people.

It's a known bug and I think Darth Mod for example fixes it.

Darthmod is well.... a mod for Shogun 2.

and soon on Mech_Donald smoke mod have smokes for parrot cannon.
