How to get Latin Handgunners?

As the title states, how does one recruit latin handgunners as late era Byzantines? I'm currently at year 1410 and basically have fully upgraded cities/castles and I still can't recruit them, while countries like the papal states and France have full banner armies of handgunners (using SS 6.4 very hard).

AFAIK you get them from Merchant's guilds as the Eastern Romans.

Merchant's guild??? no I thought you'd get them using the mercenary buildings...
you have to grade those up to get to the "allemanni" and "latin handgunners" if I remember corectly

try building more "trade" related buildings, and don't accept offers from adventurers theologians or wtever guild, wait for the merchant's to offer it

pressdat is outdated. its for SS 6.2 i believe but it still a good guideline. check the edu type files?

I believe you can recruit them by the year 1500?
