I've still got a flip phone because it doesn't break when I clumsily drop it. So no sale here and they can forget me buying it as DLC as well. After this B.S. I'll pass.
The difference here is that this is for a game on an entirely different platform. I don't think many people mind that they are DLC (knew it was coming for a while), but more that i need a seperate device that costs a couple hundred dollars to get. If they were gonna release for that game then they should have released it on steam for PC people to use.
What your saying is that they could release a total war game with a pre-order bonus for some other game on a different platform entirely and that would be ok.

But its not ok the only dlc like that that i thought was ok was when i got dragon age one i got dlc for mass effect 2 it was the blood dragon armor and it was not only dlc for me2 but also dragon age 1 and it was free didnt preorder or nothing what happened to dlc like that? in this case ca has catered free dlc to a gaming crowd that probly like 50-60% will never use because most iphone gamers are not dedicated pc gamers and also probly own mac books to which shogun cant even play on......
dose it matter?
lucky them then still dosent change the fact that a lot of gamers probly never heard of total war or will ever play it and i doubt twb will draw people in to the pc games im like the only person in my town who i have found ever heard of total war i have big gamer friends and they never heard of it till i showd it to them so i dont think its really fair thath iphone users get dlc for a game most wont ever use and we loyal fans get F!@#
dose it matter?

Just release all additional factions which are already in the binaries in a bundle for $6 or sth and make your customers merry instead of frustrating them by showing them stuff which is already in the game but can't be used because it's only available by ridiculous means (pre-ordering 3 versions from 3 different retailers or forcing them to buy a smartphone and a completely different game, lol).
I used to like CA...
Then I took arrows with messages like this to theing knee.
Why don't they just release it as Steam DLC and something that comes with TWB at the same time?
That way PC gamers will be contented and 1st time players/people who actually bought TWB will have an incentive to try out FOTS and use their newly acquired Sendai Clan.
I mean, it's not like they're gonna lose any money that way right? As Faction DLCs have the same price as TWB.
Well it`s been said BEFORE where all this was going, YEARS before. But those of us who warned were, as usual, told we were `Haters` and talking crap, etc, etc... We said if we let it go too far, things like this would happen.
To be honest, I`m really sorry to see people who think there`s no problem with this and it`s pretty obvious that some will never see anything wrong with this type of thing.
But it is clear unabridged `nickle and diming` (a term I never once understood, but now do) and greed for pure greed`s sake.
The early DLCs, the pay for blood mod and now a DLC for STW2 that you have to BUY another game to use. It`s been a careful drip-drip, but it`s what they`ve been working towards all along.
I had a bad feeling in late December when CA started off with `We deserve it` twaddle and then the silence of recently. Of course, they will do some little `placation` to quiet some, but rest assured it`s not going to stop unless we, the public, make it stop.
Another reason why they are so glued to Steam and one of my very first suspicions why they chose it. They can do all kinds of crap through or for or on your game and you have very little say about the game you originally paid for and expected. In fact, even other games that use Steam don`t use it so draconianly for their own ends like CA\SEGA do.
Like I said always: It`s not better for us; it`s better for them. They have control over us totally with it and they`re using it.
Disgusting. I hope their mobile game fails- due to this sheer greed. Sorry, but I will not buy it or say anything good for it. Cue some trinkets from CA to placate the easily placated now... then another nickle and dime... It`s their strategy.
It`s a pity, they do something good like retro fitting the FOTS patch to STW2 free then ruin it by doing these underhanded things. They gain +1 respect then almost instantly -10 respect.

A plea to CA: Please give us NON-STEAM OPTIONS such as with GOG.COM`s Alan Wake and Witcher 2, etc. Even allow a system such that Mount and Blade Uses. Many of us will pay extra for a Steam-free version of RTW2.
The use of STEAM-ONLY by CA is ethically wrong because:
1. It does not need to be forced. It could be optional as other games have proven.
2. It discriminates between internet users and non-users or those who simply do not want it.
3. The `advantages` are only advantages in a very small and superficial manner. They do not counter the disadvantages.
4. It suits the company way more than the user. We are simply told it`s better for us
Finally,I shall not give CA|SEGA my money for RTW2 while it forces Steam on me. They have given us no good reason why it must be so. Basically they don`t care.
A Steam Option would benefit ALL. Don`t fight us, JOIN us.

I think this is just another of Sega's way of being a parasite. Harming CA but benefiting themselves (IMHO). I like how the link from the OP takes us straight to Sega's website for this article. So I think this was a way for Sega to get people to buy total war battles who already own the better game Shogun 2. I believe most people that have Total War on their PC's wouldn't bother with TW Battles, Sega thought maybe we can make them want to get it if we make the Sendai faction available that way and only that way. But this seems to have backfired in a way, or maybe it is working for some? Sure this makes money for both CA and Sega, but in the end, Sega comes out on top leaving CA behind. Look at all the hate comments they are getting right now. This is how I feel about this situation at the moment.

Dlc for a clan is borderline unaceptable since although you can buy civ dlc in other games, say, civilization, that game is quite moddable unlike shogun 2 with no such thing. Dlc tied to a mobile game is down right ridiculous, forcing player to buy that mobile game to own the dlc regardless he/she owns a smartfone or not. SEGA/CA thought they played it smart, but instead it sparks waves of negative responses from FotS owners. Whatever good impression i got with fall of samurai is lost, along with my last piece of faith into CA/SEGA's good will. Thank but no more total war for me.
Yeah i would be angry for this as well were i not aware CA is first and foremost a business whose sole purpose for creating products is to sell it and turn a profit, and if offering cross over content will possibly net a sale on a related product then it stands to sense and financial reason. But then this mindset could quite possibly simply be a result of my inherent capitalist american indoctrination,an inescaple facet of american life. At the end of the day guys CA doesnt make products to do us a favour, but to turn a profit while providing entertainment. And as always..it is all optional
The current Total war engine is multiple times more complex than the civ engine so of course it is infinitely more moddable, and the CA clans are optional to the grand scheme of the game(the dlc clans had no real role or impact on the events depicted) unlike civ charging for evertone from the chinese to the danes
Who are you to say which one is more moddable? :/ do you honestly believe whatever ca rep on here presenting as fact? Did you ever see them saying anything unfavourable to ca/sega? No, coz its their job to praise the company, steering community towards whats counted as good, then be silent when things get out of their hand instead of reply to them.
Anw, im not complaining abt moddability but the dlc tied to a good for nothing ios game. Dont want to beat a dead horse, sry.
I still think this all just strengthens my logic to stay behind the curve with Total War now. I haven't touched Shogun 2 since Fall Of The Stability was released and dont plan too for some time yet.
By delaying as long as one can the purchase, you not only get the game at a very cheap price, but you also hopefully get it in some sort of finished form. Hopefully that will minimise the frustration that I got from Shogun 2 in recent times.
So Victoria, Rome 2, great. But I'll wait till a year later now thanks, pick it up for a fiver and get the dlc during a steam sale.
I had to face the reality that the Total War series has been more and more becoming a love/hate affair and I'll deploy my own strategy to make it one of love again.
