Default Noob having issues with modelling

Just started modding MTW2 today, I've been reading the Tutorial threads on here for a week. So today I thought I would put it to use. I tried to combine to models like Ishan did in his Tutorial. I took the unmounted polish nobles helm & tried to put on the viking raiders models. They are showing up but they aren't in sync with each other

1st no one is more noob than another...
Now...Lets assume that you have a fully fancional version of Milkshape.
You have already converted or originaly created a model.
The ms3d (milkshape) model has a number of groups.
Helmets, heads ,swords, legs etc are some of them.
Go to the groups list and select all helmets by double clicking on each one until they will become red.
When you finish that ...go to the upper right side of the milkshape corner,
    sellect "Joints".
Below of the window that presents all bones of the model there are three small windows.
Select the 1st . The list of the bones will aprear in that box(window).
    Select bone_head.
Below the box there is a cursor that defines the % of the assignment.
Sellect the line with you mouse and drag it to far right until it reaches 100%.Make sure that the next two boxes have the word "none" in them.

In far below there are 4 buttons.
    Select "assign"..
You have completed your 1st bone assignment.
Save the model with th enew changes.
    Good luck!

When I took the helm from the polish noble I deleted the comment under the model tab. and I followed your instructions but i got stumped at the group tab, I tried to double click until the tabs turn red but no luck & im using the trial version of milkshape

Always use GOM to merge simple parts of milkshape objects.

It is caused by the lack of comments in one or more groups.
For example: Go to Helmet and chose comments..
if it is empty you must write new ones even coppying the ones that the helmet had in its original model.
EXAMPLE OF COMMENTS: (lets supose that the helmet's name i groups section id helmet_01
    Code:
    Helmet
    helmet_01
    0
Do this for every kind of groups (check their comments).

If you took the helm directly from another unit, then the bones should already be assigned, if it's not then your either using the wrong version of milkshape or you tried to merge the two different models with milkshape.
1180, an unprecedented period of peace and prosperity in East Asia, it's technology and wealth is the envy of the world. But soon conflict will engulf the entire region with great consequences and lasting effects for centuries to come, not just for this region, but the entire known world, when one man, one people, unites.....

I'm using 1.8.4 also I don't think they were because the previous problem I had the helm wouldn't sync with the rest of the model

What are you using to convert them to .mesh? Essentially, did you use both GOAT and GOM to convert the models at some point?

BTW no real need to work on all 4 lod's, just re-use lod0...

the weird thing is i took your advice and only used lod0 and copied it and now it works with no errors

So you had an error with one of the other lod's...

GOAT is a newer alternative to GOM, with GOAT 1.1 being the newest of them all. But if you decide to use GOAT, never mix the two converters as that can cause problems.

You need python 2.5.2 installed to use GOAT, then double click the file named GameObjectApplicationToolbox_v1_1.py
