An FYI, our security was compromised and a user was able to OP himself and ban us all. The safezone has been griefed. We have contacted GeD on his cell and the server is now offline. We should have a backup. Please be patient.

I got about 4 emails on this so i shut it down remotely. I wont be able to look at it for a few hours. Tell anyone that took screen shot to post them for me please.

I am here, but I have to be at a meeting in about an hour. After that I will take a look and see what happened. I am bringing the server (not the game server, the physical server) back up now and killing the MC instances so I can poke around in a bit. At this point I have no idea how they got in, I am assuming either a plugin or a hole in Bukkit itself. They did not gain root access to the server. Other than me, the only person to login in the last month or so is Remlap.

Just shoot me any information you think is relevant. I pulled the logs and posted them for the moderators (site moderators as well as MC moderators) to go through, and I will go through them myself when I get back from this meeting.

The PvP world will likely get restored to last nights backup, which will take a while. Its a 16 gig file. The Collab and Creative servers were not compromised and I have put them back up.

Mang and I have investigated the PvP Server and have found the damage is limited to the Safe Zone only. No major bases have been griefed.

Well that is good news indeed. The safe zone is easily rebuilt with the help off admins but assessing damage on player owned bases is harder and therefore harder to repair. Lets be grateful that this was fixable.

Honestly, what did they gain out of this? If they're going to hack someones Minecraft server, hack a larger server, such as ObsidianCraft or something.

Not that I didn't expect this to be the solution to the problem, but does this mean that all the work I did this morning between 7 to 8am PST will be deleted?
