Meh, if I am interested the most I am willing to do is rent it, just to play the campaign.

Hmm, I know the story already, some terrorist will come and hack all the machines and put them against USA so USA will have to go on a war to preserve "freedom" and "democracy" and blah blah blah.

But, I knew that Wood was alive! I knew it and I freaking told everyone and no one believed me! When he jumps through the window with the guy with the strange Russian name, right before he jumps, if you hear carefully you can hear a woman voice saying "15" (I think it is 15, but might be wrong, I know for sure it was a "teen" number), which means he was brainwashed at that part and that what he saw was not the complete truth.

hm, so they basically take the story of Die Hard 4....

Well to be perfectly honest, despite the many flaws I could see (I'll get to that in a later post) it still looked pretty more interesting than MW3...

Horseback riding! Didn't expect that. At all.

    Was that...horses?

Intriguing, but I get the feeling it's their excuse to sell it as a brand new game. "We added a new feature this time! Horses!"

I'm not sure if they are trying too hard or not at all.

And...apparently horses are the weapons of the future.

I think the pattern is Infinity Ward release the same crap over and over while Treyarch at least tries to think outside the box.

CoD3 and WaW had the best and original singleplayers from all the WW2 CoDs but Black Ops, although original, was just a mess where it seemed they tried so hard to fit in as many features and scenarios into one story that it just got silly... looks like they haven't learnt.

I'll still always prefer Treyarch though, even if i'm not buying this.

Yeah I totally agree, saw it earlier and man... What a disappointment. The plot is already retarded, the trailer itself however is actually quite well done. I'll probably buy it for 20 bucks from the used section of an EB games a few months after it comes out, as I have with every Treyarch title.

    So.

Black Ops 2 will be set in both the 70s/80s as well as 2025, you'd switch between Alex Mason and Mason's son, David, as you swap timeframes.

The US is at war with China over resource control, the technology included in the game (drones etc) is all expected to be around by the timeframe of the game.

And for those of you in the 'RAHH RAHH COD IS TOO SCRIPTED RAHH RAHH' crowd, this time around, the game has 'Strike Force' sections, where you have multiple choices that affect the outcome of the story. When you chose one mission, the others disappear and are not played. YOU CAN FAIL THESE MISSIONS (HALLELUJAH.). Main characters can die thanks to your actions in these missions.

I like it. Kudos to Treyarch for taking CoD outside it's comfort zone of the modern era. It's about time something was done to change things.

mfw half of this thread says 'I'll rent it or buy it and try it out' upon seeing the trailer.

This is why they can continue to make billions and fart out game after game people, because you keep giving them money just because they dangled a bunch of shiny things in front of your face.

Honestly, it looks like . They're trying way too hard now. 3/4 of the ingame footage consisted out of those scripted cutscenes and events that happen around you, they're barely even bothering to show the actual first person combat.

When was the last time a trailer for a first-person shooter made use of first-person combat?

    Second question.

This is Call of Duty. It is what it is.

That the true backstory to this game? Source?

If so, I like the idea of finally fighting China. It's about time a war game took that route, Russians were getting boring.

I'm skeptic about this "choose your fate" feature, to where the 'outcome' will be too obvious a la Mass Effect. Decisions should be hard, brutal, cruel, and unforgiving. Just like in real life.

    Source is Joystiq.com, highly reliable

And if you go back to the Joystiq homepage there's 3 or 4 more articles about the game that certainly make it look like the best CoD since #4.

The storyline actually sound somewhat plausible (at least, the reason behind the China/US war.)

Are you kidding me? They can't use mechanical vehicles, or did you miss that part in the trailer? Or do you really think horseriding is an enticing feature to the COD demographic?

That's why we see the good guys being driving around in cars for half the trailer?? This looks ing retarded but the fanboys will still buy this crap, I like that they're still using the same crappy engine by the looks of it.

I enjoyed the SP in black ops so will probably hire this out for a night, but damn it looks dated and ugly. Why has it taken so long for the next gen consoles to come around. There has not been a good looking console game in years.
