Exactly. This was intended to be a community project; name, appearance, characters,... all to be the product of brainstorming and consensus.
Just shoving your own little pre-designed fantasy chapter down our throats isn't the point of this.

IMo...bastards don't sound particularly.....fearsome....it feels more like a dozen dozen type of outfit....not a fearsome professional force.....

Just ask yourself:

"IF you owned a professional sports team/military outfit/army group what would you name it?"

I'd certainly not go with bastards of darkness.....I'd sound like a unprofessional mix of riff raft

Just my opinion though, no need to spread it around....


If one were to look at say....other forum's community chapter they generally keep it simple and include the forum name somewhere, so while any chapter with total war in it may not sound fearsome....neither does bastards....that just gives off the atmosphere of light hearted sillyness....which of course if that was the intend then it's alright............

But from a forum like total war(which I'd like to think has very respectable members, hellheaven has contributed much in the historical department and I'd had to pleasure to read his insights and Grant has also done an impressive amount in this 40k forum as I'm sure he does on other dedicated 40k forums) I'd certainly expect a well thought out impressive chapter name....not a hastily thought up dirty dozen.....



I would like to say though.....if one was to vote I would hope it was well thought out and meant to be constructive, not on a whim

How about we drop the whole naming issue for the moment and perhaps focus on what style of chapter we want? After all it's more apt to have a chapter name derive from tactics and style than vice versa.

What's going to be our naming convention for major characters? Something Romanesque? Do we recruit from a single culture, and hence similar names, or are we fleet-based and recruit wherever we can, and hence random names?
What's the specialisation? CQB, long range, siege, assault, intelligence gathering,....
Do we go for a clean basic look, runes and barbaric ornaments or a very ornate gold and parchment/seals look?

When I had the idea to create an Official SM Chapter of TWC I did not know exactly in which way to proceed, my only certainty was to try to involve in the crative process all the poeple who loves WH40k in this Forums with the maximum of democratic partecipation: The best instrument was the poll, an extensive use of the poll!
So I thought to use polls for everything: name of the Chapter, color scheme, fluff, rules , some beckground history and everything culd be proposed.
But one thing is to say polls, and a different thing is deciding how to organize the polls.

For the name now I understood that probably we have too many names, so here my decision: We will have 2 polls, The first poll will decide a shortlist of name based on the three best scores obtained; the Second Poll will be the definitive and it will decide the true winner, practically it is like the French electoral system first turn you choose the candidates, second turn you choose the president! I hope in this way to have more votes on the less names, that is more collective consensus concentrated on the Official Name of TWS SM Chapter.

Sorry if I do not explained this in detail on the starting of the poll but it is my first time so......you'll excuse me!

I want to remember that the idea of the Official SM Chapter of TWC is mine, so sadly mine is the responsability of establish the rules and the modes in which this adventure will develop, I consider part of my idea all the material that was produced until now, like names, color schemes and the same idea of an Official Loyalist SM Chapter of TWC, of course the owners of the names and colors schemes are owners of their material but the use of this material for creating an TWC SM Chapter is and will be only mine, doors opened to any collaboration or to anyone who want be part of the project but actually this is the situation. I'll immediatly report anyone who would try to use these names, schemes or my idea out of my the rules and modes I fixed!

It is really sad being obliged to explain similar things but sadly here around, lately, I saw some people acting only with the clear intent to destruct my idea, and probably damage this forums, I do not know why but as said A.Einstain: 'the human stupidity is infinite!'.

To be clear: the creators of names and schemes are obviously the only owners of their material, which they can use as they like!
But the idea of the TWC SM Chapter is mine and no one can steal it, this will produce an istant report to moderators!

As I've said, if it was a Chaos Warband, I wouldn't mind, but it's definitely not a name for an Imperial Chapter. As such, and considering the less-than-stellar conduct of some members here, I support your notion.
